Not impressed

Posted 27-Apr-2016
Booked a double and given a twin room. No discount or sincere apology given. Was told the manager would call - never happened. no rating facilities from breakfast. Breakfast served in a half decorated room and on top of price. Way too expensive for that!!!

Wouldn't stay again

Extremely basic room considering the price paid. Bathroom was clean but very old. No restaurant open. No recommendation of where to eat at night. The only positive was the swimming pool which was great.

Clean, Quiet, Comfortable

Posted 07-Mar-2016
Pros: Friendly staff and quiet atmosphere.
Hotel is mid-way through a refurbishment. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had an excellent view over the golf course and spent a couple of hours watching the wildlife come and go after the golfers had all left for the day. Sadly, the restaurant was closed whilst we were there but Bury st Edmunds is only a few minutes away and has some very good choices of places to eat.

Hotel under renovation.

Posted 23-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Unfortunately on booking I was not told the hotel was under renovation so we had to walk through workmen, over dustsheets, dirty carpet, dirty changing rooms, cold swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Our room was definitely not a superior twin either. The breakfast was very poor. I was treating my friend for her birthday and it was embeasdinf to say the least v

The decor in the room was not up to standard - although other areas of the hotel were being decorated. The standard of food was not top quality either and I was over-charged (but this was quickly sorted when I checked out)

Good stay - some noise issues

Posted 06-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Pleasant overnight stop - arrived late and had to call for reception to be attended - but very prompt. Hotel decor a bit shaby and being redecorated, but large comfortable room. Main downside was noise tranmission from room above, soundproofing very poor. Best features are gym, grounds, location and the staff. Breakfast good too. Highlight of trip was getting my smartphone back after foolishly leaving it in the room when I left - staff honest and helpful.
