Too Good To Be True :(

Posted 01-Jun-2016 on Hotels
Unfortunately disappointed with our stay. Trip was for a cycling sportif which started at 8am, we were unable to have breakfast on first day because breakfast wasn't available till 8 am. Charged anyway. On returning to the hotel after a long day both the bar and restaurant was closed with no prior warning. We tried to phone reception but there appeared to be no staff in the building. The rooms were clean, although en suite was a little grubby. Bed was comfortable and views stunning. The heat was unbearable and road too noisy to sleep with windows open. When we checked out we had a £7.50 bar bill which I wanted to pay on my card, unfortunately I didn't have cash with me, the staff member who was checking us out told the owner who was so rude! Attempted to charge us £15 minimum charge and then eventually charged us£10. (Didn't reimburse us for the two breakfasts that we couldn't have because 7.30 am was too early for the chef!) This place was empty throughout our stay and it's no surprise. People using the stunning beer garden to drink their shop bought alcohol! Stay clear x

Great place to be.

From the pictures I have hopefully added, you'd think this was some 5 star hotel. What a pleasant surprise. I was running late and did not expect to arrive till 10:45pm, I called through and was advised that it was not an issue. I got there at just after 10:30pm and the pub was still open. Simple and quick check in as I was shown up to the room, even asked what time I wanted breakfast. The room was so spacious and modern and not what I would have expected. Everything co-ordinated, all the furnishings. The bathroom very also very big, including the shower cubicle, bath and basin, all with space in-between. Yes, a big shower cubicle that you did not feel trapped in Tea and coffee making facilities, decent sized to and very good wi-fi. Comfortable bed and whilst the Hotel was next to a road, being at the back I did not notice any noise. A great nights sleep. I only wanted porridge for breakfast, phew, it was available and made to order. Could have had full English, perhaps next time. A great view over the fields that I missed at night, again next time I am this way I will be back. I can really recommend this Hotel for anyone coming to this area or in need of a stop.

Empty during the week. Cannot speak for weekends.

Chef late for breakfast, no copy of bill on leaving, unique customer service attitudes. Not recommend by me.

Nice place to stay

This is a good place to stay if you want to visit Clarks shopping village. The room was nicely decorated and the ensuite was functional. The inclusion of a cooked breakfast was an added luxury, it was lovely.

One night stay

Posted 02-Mar-2016 on Hotels
We were only there for one night to go to a friend's party locally. The hotel was exactly what we expected. Unfortunately the heating wasn't working in our room when we arrived but the staff were very helpful and it was quickly remedied. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay there again.

A 3 Day Disaster Break

Posted 12-Jan-2016 on Hotels
We arrived at approx 5pm after a 5 hour drive to find the premises locked up with a Tele No to call. After checking in we were informed that breakfast would be served between 7.00am and 8.00am, we declined breakfast because we thought that it was too early on a leisure break. The Restaurant advertised Fresh Fish from Brixham with 6 selections of fish on the Specials Board so we decided to eat in the Restaurant. When we were asked to place our order we were advised that there had been no fresh fish since Xmasand the Specials Board was not available. After Dinner we were informed that Breakfast on Friday Morning would be served until 9.00am. The following morning we arrived outside the Dining Room at 8.50am to find the door was locked and there were no lights on or staff available. They did manage to serve breakfast on Saturday morning at 9.30am. What a disastrous break we will certainly not be returning

Great Quality Rooms Great Quality Breakfast

Posted 25-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Lovely pub/b&b on the outskirts of Street. The room was lovely, a large very comfortable bed, a nice large bathroom, and very nice décor. The only downside was a green emergency light above the bedroom door that rather illuminated the bedroom somewhat at night. Although being on a main road there was very little noise pollution at night. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout, and the best bit was the very good sized and good quality full English breakfast, DELICIOUS!! Will be returning :)
