This hotel was very nice

Posted 07-Oct-2015
Pros: The view of the countryside from our window was magnificent. The breakfasts were splendid. And we enjoyed talking to Marcus, the owner/manager.
Cons: Just correct the address on the website so that visitors can find the place! (see above.)
Location: The location was perfect for our plans. (A family reunion.)
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. However we would suggest that the address on the website should be made more clear. It is NOT in the town of Street, it is actually on the edge of Walton....NEAR Street. After a long transatlantic flight and a long drive, it was frustrating to drive round and round Street, looking for the location. The simplest instructions for visitors should just say "On the A 39" (highway). As a courtesy to the staff, we had called ahead to say that we "might be checking in late" but in fact we arrived at about 4:40pm and so we had to search around the locked building to find someone to check us in. All of that was not a good start......

Great Food

Posted 24-Sep-2015 on Hotels
We received a warm welcome on arrival, the room was in good condition and the food, especially the seafood chowder was amazing. There was a very bright green emergency light by the room door which lit up the room - in our case that was helpful as we needed to see to our 9 month old. My only major concern which to be clear wasn't the Gateway's fault is that our specific request on the hotels.com booking for a crib wasn't honoured - they don't do cribs at all, even though hotels.com to this day say they do. Luckily we were able to dismantle the single bed which had been put in our room so our son could sleep safely. If we had a travel cot and were in the area we would definitely consider staying again.

On a busy noisy road, and our room overlooked the car park and recycle area. The bin men were very noisy when they came at 6.15am on a bank holiday! But the views, food, service and staff were great.

Really friendly helpful staff , food served both evening meal and breakfasts, no issues was well cooked and generous portions. Comfortable bed too. Clean where it matters but needs that little attention to detail to make it pristine. Would we go again Yes that's the plan.

Great place to break a journey to the West Country

Posted 10-Aug-2015
Pros: Simply extremely good value.
Cons: There is a little road noise but there is nothing you can do about that.
Location: Glastonbury has the Abbey and the annual extravaganza and Clark's Village is in Street.
We were met with very helpful staff, our room was extremely clean and the breakfast was first class. Pound for pound one of the best hotels I have stayed in.

nice hotel close to M5. Scrumptous breakfast. Overall suited our needs perfectly for an overnight stop off en route to cornwall.
