Pros: Close to local attractions. nice spacious room (we had a classic family room). Nice gym and excellent swimming pool with very helpful staff in the gym area. Elemis Spa on site. Friendly hotel staff. Very picturesque traditional setting.
Cons: could do with new carpets. You have to pay £5 for parking at the hotel, but can then walk into town (very close). Could do with a little air fabreeze in some areas of the hotel, but only a minor issue.
Overall, a nice stay. I would return and recommend to friends. It was probably a 3.5 star hotel.
"Nice, comfortable hotel, close to the town centre "
Really enjoyed our one night's stay at the Swan's Nest, the room was comfortable and there was a nice bistro and bar.
It is only a short walk to the centre of town and the theatres so it's in a great location.
Whilst the location is great and room very comfortable, we were initially told on check in that we had been downgraded from a superior room (which we had booked and paid for) to a double room because they were fully booked for the night and that we should've received a communication about this. We hadn't received any notice of this and after first being told there was nothing that could be done, we insisted that because we had paid and booked the top tier room that is what we should be provided. The woman from the desk went and spoke to the manager and returned saying she could indeed put us in the superior room...ended well but was an odd experience and initially stressful and a hastle to have that happen.
We arrived in the parking lot and one of the staff came out of the hotel to help us with our bags. They also provided use wth great suggestions for touring Stratford-upon-Avon. We felt we were treated like royalty in this hotel. Breakfast, which was included, was absolutely wonderful.
In the heart of historic Stratford-on-Avon, the newly refurbished Arden Hotel is the epitome of elegance and sophistication …More
Very comfortable pleasant stay over all .. only discomfort was concern that breakfast had been purchased through trip adviser .. The hotel reception had only room booked .? ? ?
Come on people avoid high blood pressure and get it organised properly .?
That uncertainty raised a cloud over rebooking or recommending the hotel or using trip adviser .?
no explanation about which was at fault ?
William Shakespeare gets top billing in this Tudor town; the Bard's early and family life are on display at Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's cottage. Visitors should take the opportunity to attend a performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company at its recently revitalized flagship theatre. Make sure to view the River Avon, the town's other star attraction.
