Exploring Central Strasbourg
Central Strasbourg is only a short tram ride from most of the city’s neighbourhoods and suburbs. The UNESCO-listed Grande île island is in the heart of the city, and the site of many of Strasbourg’s main attractions and landmarks. Strasbourg Cathedral and Rohan Palace are popular with visitors and are within walking distance from each other. On the island’s easternmost point, Petite France is the oldest part of Strasbourg. Adding to the charm of the area, many of its popular taverns and restaurants are in 16th- and 17th-century buildings.
Just north of Grande île, the large Orangerie Park is Strasbourg’s oldest park. It now features a boating lake and vintage car track for children. The park’s petting zoo and stork sanctuary are also very popular with families.
