Reasonable hotel

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: a reasonable hotel, attractive history and well placed for local amenities.
Cons: repair potholes, provide better access to building. (some fire doors left open for fresh air and access).
Location: N/A wedding visit
PROS - comfortable room, spacious, pleasant staff, attentive. Reasonable food menus. Breakfast good choice although, if later into the last hour or so, becoming cool and dry. CONS - Potholes on approach roads, room access card failed on two occasions. Scrambled egg maker needs further instruction!

Pleasant staff and pretty grounds.

I stayed one night midweek for business reasons. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a meal from the Indian menu, which was authentic, and a suitable portion size, although a little oily for my taste. Some parts of the building are really quite lovely and well looked after, the external is very nice, with a pleasant seating area. Other parts of the building, are a tad dated. Overall a clean and suitable hotel for short stays.

Needs some TLC and care with reservations.

Hotel was shabby. Worn carpets in the communal areas, gaffer tape holding down loose parts. Wallpaper peeling in the bedroom. Pond outside uncared for. Drainage channel in the car park, collapsed and not repaired or hazard marked, this was not a recent as their was grass growing in the sunken part. Generally a lack of maintenance was obvious. The room was extremely warm and the window had restriction on how far it could be opened. Given a downgraded room from that booked, with very small price reduction.

Welcoming hotel to all guests.

Felt really welcomed when we arrived, loved the area, rooms where spacious and so relaxing. Best part about it, is that bar was open 24 hour so we could even get a drink when we arrived back at 12:30am. Wish we could stay longer.

Good comfortable hotel.

Four day break to see family, hotel clean and comfortable, higher class than expected for price. Only downside is evening meals in restaurant a bit pricey for amount of food on plate. Staff friendly, helpful and smartly dressed. Nightclub on premises Friday night but no noise or problems for guests. Will definitely stay there again on next visit.
