"Back to School"
Spent one night here and found it a pleasant experience. The fact that it was a grammar school is evident within the open reception area and the long corridors with old classrooms leading off them, all with new uses. The bedroom was a reasonable size but a bit dark and slightly dated, some TLC needed all round. The bed was comfortable enough but the duvet was a bit heavy. The swimming pool and spa area feels and look newer and is in good condition. The building overall has a good mix of styles with exposed stonework and winding staircases. The staff were friendly and helpful. There seems to be plenty of parking on site and it is close to the city centre. Walking into the city is easy as it is downhill but it is it is a steep walk back up. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food.

"Visiting home again."
Staff were excellent, breakfast delicious. Room plumbing not very good. WiFi was abysmal. I have always loved the Golden Lion in years past when I lived in the area, but it is now in need of considerable renovation. We were on an upper floor not very convenient for hauling heavy suitcases. The one elevator just is not enough, perhaps an outside elevator or ?.

"Fabulous hotel, bad breakfast experience "
The hotel is fabulous and has great facilities and beautiful setting right by the loch and we loved the choice of things to do and places to eat. We booked the champagne cruise and the hawk walk- I thoroughly recommend both of these. We ate at the boat house and the Claret jug which were both lovely. Our room was huge and comfortable with a lovely bathroom. The reason for the low rating was breakfast. This was a truly awful experience. one day we waited 40 minutes for a table, we were constantly sat amongst dirty tables and every time we went to the self serve we had to ask for glasses/plates/bowls/food ...you name it. I ordered pancakes every day (four days) and each day it looked a different dish. No butter/jam/coffee on the table....and on and on... Such a shame. I hope the hotel reads this and does something about it.

"wonderful find in Grangemouth"
We booked this place sight unseen around 7pm through Expedia and were very happy to find a clean, roomy space with everything working and in great condition. We had a hard time getting the card key to work and so the lovely desk attendant came over in person (different building) to ensure that we could master the entrance! Quiet night, even though there was a wedding reception next door. Beds were comfortable, bathroom new and lovely. Breakfast buffet was ample, hot and delicious. Tea server made sure we had everything we needed. Check out was a breeze

"Great location for Loch Lomond"
Great hotel with lots of character set on the green in the middle of a quiet village. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, rooms were comfortable and meals were good. Great location for Loch Lomond. Will stay here again.

Scotland is well known for its unique culture and history, and those planning their itineraries for a trip to Scotland should be sure to reserve a hotel in the city of Stirling, which is considered the country’s “heritage capital”. Stirling has the finest concentration of historic buildings in Scotland, capped by its stunning Stirling Castle, which dates from the early 12th Century and has played a major role in events such as the Wars of Scottish Independence.

Other sites include the contemporary Falkirk Wheel, an impressive feat of engineering, and the imposing 15th century fortress, Blackness Castle.
