Will not recommend or be back

Posted 06-Jul-2017
Far to many issues to list. I have called 3 times about my complaints to be told some one was going to call me. Still never happened. Would not recomennd anyone to stay. As specially at the weekend as they don't tell you there is a wedding on and have no interest in the other guests. Will call again tomorrow and see if I can actually get to talk to some on. Zero star

Not what we expected

Posted 02-Jun-2017
Pros: SPA
Cons: Rooms could do with up dating
Location: Close to some lovely walks, the Falkirk wheel, and not far from a train station if you wanted to travel into Edinburgh like we did.
We arrived at the Airth Hotel and was very impressed with the Hotel look on the outside. We booked in at reception and was told that in the Castle were we was staying there was a wedding reception going on but it should not disturb us as they would be going over to the main hotel in the evening. Did not have a problem with this but when we went over to the Castle part of the hotel we was then asked twice were we was going as there was a wedding going on, obviously to our room. On our 2nd evening pre wedding drinks for another wedding we again was asked were we was going when going to our room and the music was very loud and there was a lot of noise to late. Then the wedding the next day which took over the entrance of the castle and you felt that you was intruding into there wedding. The main hotel was very nice and the spa was nice as well. The room it self in the castle was large with 4 poster bed but the room could do with a lot of up dating quite dole. Our stay at Airth Castle was not what we expected at all, if there are weddings going on don't make over guess feel that they do not have the freedom to come and go as they please.

Band-aides on Bullet-wounds

Posted 30-May-2017
Pros: The staff was friendly and apologetic and the only reason we didn't ask for more concessions. The pool was great too, except for the broken hot tub.
Cons: Lipstick on Pig. Guests can overlook an oddity, (a hole in the wall, or a crack in the tile) but every where we turned there was something wrong.
Location: 30 mins from Sterling, 45 to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Bottom line -- It's a shame ownership and management put their hardworking employees in the awful position of having to apologize for so many avoidable situations. All employees greeted us with a smile and worked hard, but any good will they built with the guests got washed down the drain by poor training and management. After reading the reviews prior to our trip, I had limited expectations, but I figured for half the price of an Edinburgh hotel and pool, we gave it a shot. For the most part, the hotel met my mediocre expectations. The lobby looked nice and check in was smooth, except for the couple complaining to the manager over being given an unclean room. Our room, thankfully, was clean and while it was a good size family room, the furniture, bathroom and beds had seen better days. We were comfortable there and slept fine, so in the end the room met our needs. The restaurant on the other hand, was an utter disappointment 3/4 of the times we ate there (breakfast was included, so we felt compelled to dine). Dinner on night 1 was satisfactory, except one dish did not match the menu description. Night 2 was awful. They ran out 3 or 4 key menu items, got our order wrong, served me the wrong meal, and served my wife what amounted to a $20 bowl of noodles. Part of our meal was free b/c of this. Meals were overpriced, period. Breky was a disaster though, running out of juice, ketchup, sausage, and jam. Staff was everywhere and it looked chaotic.

Mattress was very uncomfortable. Room was a very nice size. Bar staff was very friendly and helpful. Only able to walk through castle for a brief moment due to a wedding. Was looking for a cozier experience.

The restaurant and bar area is lovely, however the bedrooms are horrific. They don't match the rest of the hotel, they are dingy and old fashioned.
