Band-aides on Bullet-wounds
Bottom line -- It's a shame ownership and management put their hardworking employees in the awful position of having to apologize for so many avoidable situations. All employees greeted us with a smile and worked hard, but any good will they built with the guests got washed down the drain by poor training and management.
After reading the reviews prior to our trip, I had limited expectations, but I figured for half the price of an Edinburgh hotel and pool, we gave it a shot. For the most part, the hotel met my mediocre expectations. The lobby looked nice and check in was smooth, except for the couple complaining to the manager over being given an unclean room. Our room, thankfully, was clean and while it was a good size family room, the furniture, bathroom and beds had seen better days. We were comfortable there and slept fine, so in the end the room met our needs. The restaurant on the other hand, was an utter disappointment 3/4 of the times we ate there (breakfast was included, so we felt compelled to dine). Dinner on night 1 was satisfactory, except one dish did not match the menu description. Night 2 was awful. They ran out 3 or 4 key menu items, got our order wrong, served me the wrong meal, and served my wife what amounted to a $20 bowl of noodles. Part of our meal was free b/c of this. Meals were overpriced, period. Breky was a disaster though, running out of juice, ketchup, sausage, and jam. Staff was everywhere and it looked chaotic.
