Shabby Rooms

Posted 08-Mar-2017
Pros: Spa
Cons: Rooms
We will not return to this hotel as the rooms were very shabby and spoiled our overnight stay. Very dissapointing.

Beautiful setting

Posted 01-Mar-2017
Mixed experience, food excellent first night, not so good 2nd also due to very young inexperienced staff on duty. Breakfast cold 2nd day. Reception staff were excellent and very helpful. The bedroom was clean but disappointing although it was tastefully done up the bathroom was Not! Wood along the bottom of the door and bath splintering. We had 2 rooms and in one the lights were not working- couldn't read a book. I did mention this along with the broken light on the stairs however only the later was fixed, but thankfully not good walking down a stair with poor lighting and a black carpet ( maybe not your best choice) Would I go back? Probably if there was an offer on, for redemption purposes.

Stop off point.

Excellent experience for the price we paid, we ate in the restaurant and the food was fabulous, lovely nights sleep and breakfast was excellent. Why all the harsh reviews? The hotel was totally comfortable and staff very welcoming to our family and Rex our dog!!!! Wish it was closer to where we lived!!!!

Beautiful for a wedding

Posted 20-Feb-2017
We had a lovely day at airth castle The ceremony room was beautiful. excellent food was served after the speeches. Everyone was served their food very efficiently & was pipeing hot Our room let the hotel down badly. The furniture was very dated and damaged. Not at all what wee expected a very dull dark room & dark badly damaged furniture. The curtains had seen better days the pellet was just a bit of different material stappled to the wood. The bathroom was clean but had a shaky toilet sèat. & a few chips in the bath. We would only go to a wedding there if we were guaranteed to get a better room😕😕

Extremely poor customer service

Posted 19-Feb-2017
Having been at a wedding here two years ago and had fab experience decided to repeat- this time was horrific experience. Spent time chasing staff for simple jobs especially in the restaurant- customer service exceedingly poor during and after trip- will not be returning to this hotel any time soon if at all in the future. Disappointed is an understatement!!

Nice spa away day

Posted 14-Feb-2017
Pros: Access was easy.Softfurnishing could be due for replacement .
Cons: No muesli in the breakfast selection
Location: Kelpies and the Wheel and many more like Callander house
Check in was very busy but three very efficient girls handled it very quickly and fast.Room was a wee bit tired but was clean and everything worked. Shower was forcefull and easy to control. Directions were clear and dining room had a wonderful glass roof and tables well spaced. staff were very busy and kitchen coped well. Spa was well organised and lockers operated by key pad with towels provided. Sauna had a big window looking on to the pool so you could keep an eye on the kids. Unfortunately someone had jumped into the jacuzzi and punched a hole in the fibreglass and it was out of order. Treatments were fully booked. Please book in advance to secure. All staff were very pleasant and greeted you first.

Mixed bag

First impressions were good - reception staff were friendly and place looked nice. Booked a Junior Suite expecting something a bit more special as it was for a birthday treat - it wasn't. Other than the room being large there were no extra little perks not even a bottle of water for free. Bathroom was small and dated. We stayed on a DBB deal and the food was great however the service was not consistent - the first night it was bad however the second night excellent. We used the pool, steam room and sauna which was a nice way to relax if you could get a quiet time. Overall for me I wouldn't return but the hotel does have so much potential
