Overnight stay in the castle for a wedding

Posted 09-Sep-2016
Pros: Comfortable, attractive.
Cons: Better blinds, better sound proofing.
I recently stayed overnight for a wedding reception held within the castle. Our room was within the castle itself (not all are, we were the only ones from our party). I enjoyed my stay and had a great nights sleep in the comfy bed. The room itself was decorated nicely and was clean. It also had a nice view out to the hills. Bathroom spacious and bright, but not modern. The bed was firm but very comfortable, with a good duvet and pillows. There were some negatives that I didn't expect and that I imagine would really annoy some people. The room was on the top floor, there was no lift that i'm aware of, and it was quite a climb. We are both fit, healthy adults, but it wasn't ideal, especially in wedding clothing/heels and after a few drinks, and taking a suitcase up. The blinds are not adequate and let a lot of light in. With the early sunrises in summer this is quite disruptive to sleep. The sound proofing between our room and the neighbouring room was poor, and we could hear the people next door talking pretty loudly through the wall. Also, on our arrival at 5pm, the neighbouring room had left a tray of finished room service with dirty dishes outside their door on the floor. When we left to check out at 1050am the next day these dishes were still there. I would expect that to be collected by staff long before then, for the attraction of pests at the very least. On a very positive note though, the food served at the wedding buffet was excellent.

good quality hotel

Posted 04-Sep-2016
Pros: The staff helpful and friendly. Dining room is really good and fresh looking. Food is of a high quality.
Cons: Fresh paint required in rooms, bathrooms and corridors.
Location: Location good. can't comment on things to do - we were only there for wedding
We were there overnight for a wedding in the castle. The hotel is in a nice area and has well kept surroundings. the dining room is excellent and the food of a high quality. The rooms are tired and could do with a fresh coat of paint. Bathroom in our room not the best. Taps difficult to stop water dripping. If all rooms and bathrooms are in similar condition a makeover is due.

Enjoyed our overnight stay, food was excellent as was the room, staff and facilities. We took our dog and were able to sit in the lounge across from reception all evening with her, where we also had drinks. Will definitely be back.

Nice place, friendly staff room facilities could've been better. Three of us stayed in a triple room and there were only two cups to make a drink not enough coffee as well as sugar had to ask everynight. Overall it's a good place to stay would definitely recommend..

Nice location with a castle

The hotel complex has two parts...castle and spa complex. Workmen were in painting which the castle badly needs....in fact the the old castle needs rennovation. Lovely location. Loved the newer part of the complex. Facilities were excellent

Aussen hui, innen pfui

Pros: Restaurant
Cons: Eine ganze Menge.

Overall lovely stay!

Overall very nice hotel, rooms could do with a bit of updating! We had an issue where the shower head fell off as my sister was getting in the shower. However, on checkout I informed the receptionist & she said they would fix that! Breakfast was a bit of a let down, like it had been cooked a while ago. Overall the stay was enjoyable & wouldn't hesitate to return!

Just a bit shabby

Posted 07-Jun-2016 on Hotels
Arrived at Airth Castle - didn't realise the hotel was down hill in outbuildings - I had to phone hotel reception as intercom wasn't working, to find it as sign was hidden in trees. Check in fine. Family room quite small. Furniture shabby & tired. Bathroom could have been nice but for cracked sink. Used pool which was lovely & warm, Steam room good, sauna not warm. Changing rooms small but clean enough & many of the lockers not working. Had dinner, main was nice, dessert not so much - ice crystals could be seen in what was supposed to be a Black Forest gateau- very odd, more like a slice of mousse. Service generally good though. Breakfast was fine. Guest areas were in need of refurb - some could easily be addressed - booths with no backs looked shocking & really drags the place down. All in all it was ok, not a luxury resort by a long way.
