We stayed in this hotel for just one night. This hotel is in the very centre of Stevenage. Immediately out the front door was the shopping precinct. Car parking is in a shoppers multi storey car park with discounted rates by the hotel validating the payment chip. The hotel room was clean and comfortable but the bathroom had some yellow staining in the grouting. Although the hotel advertises all rooms with WiFi, the original room we were allocated could not pick it up as the signal was too weak. The staff were understanding and moved us to another room where WiFi was OK. We ate breakfast in the cafe, and whilst there was not a huge selection, the cooked food was very tasty.
Easy walking distance to the rail station, although we had to use a cab because of the volume of luggage we had. Near by food establishments. Room was reasonably sized (especially compared to the room in Chiswick we had two years ago). Beds were comfortable. I made an error when I booked and the room only had one bed, and I needed two. The staff quickly moved us into another room with no issue.
Stevenage is a great place to stay to be near London without paying the higher rates to stay there. Even on Saturdays there's frequent express trains to Kings Cross Station in London, so popping into town is quick. With my daughter now safely at Cambridge, I would likely stay here again for the convenience and lower cost. Since she's going to be there a while, I'll probably be back numerous times.
Couple of points regarding this hotel - Overall, the stay was pleasing. However, during night time there was a noise from the heating (periodic clicking ongoing) which could not be switched off... I guess during summer (when it is off) or winter (when it is on constantly) it is not a problem, but during our stay the weather was such that we decided to put it on minimum. It was really loud... Anyway, for one night stay the hotel was OK. The hotel room (for 3 adults) was spacious, the bathroom is small but enough... So, overall OK!

Stevenage was the first of the post-war new towns to be built and also led the way in town planning by having the first pedestrianized town center. The old town dates back to Saxon times and nearby Knebworth House has become famous for hosting major rock concerts featuring the likes of Robbie Williams, Oasis, and Led Zeppelin.
