"a spring break chill out week after a harsh winter"
This was our first stay on mainland Malta, having previously visited the small island of Comino 2 years ago. From the minute we got off the plane till we boarded it again a week later, we enjoyed our stay in Malta immensely. although we spent most of our time by the pool we did take a few trips to Sliema, Valletta, and Bugibba to do some shopping, everywhere we went we enjoyed the friendliness of all the staff of shop, cafe's and restaurants used during our stay, We used public transport to get about, buying a multi journey tickets is the best way of doing this and we had an easy to use bus timetable to help us. After a very windy first day, the weather was wall to wall sunshine, a big change from the rain sleet and snow, we left behind in Scotland. There are not many countries I would visit again and again, but Malta is one I will definitely be coming back to, I look forward to our next visit
Although a short walk to the bus station, close to the sea, and near shops and restaurants, the hotel was located in a quiet neighbourhood. The inevitable building work opposite was not a major inconvenience and didn't detract from our stay. Malta provides a rich variety of places to visit, and we travelled extensively on the local buses.

The Topaz was a nice surprise and a very nice hotel for a 3 star. My only gripe would be the bar needs to be stocked as simple things like a gin & tonic where unobtainable as there was no tonic along with many other drinks. An overall good experience and I would recommend the Topaz as great value for money.

Good enough hotel and offers a good range of choices for breakfast. The indoor swimming pool is tidy and clean. Rooftop pool looked good but with the building work going on as part of the hotel extension it was impossible to relax on this pool.

This was our second visit in two years, we awarded high marks on the first visit but it is even now better. The first time we had a street view room which fully met our needs and expectations. This time we booked a sea view room which far exceeded expectations. The, in house, independently operated, restaurant offers great food at a reasonable prices. WiFi is free but only accessible in the lobby and lounge, this not a deal breaker and some of us want to get away from the world of connectivity and enjoy our lives as couples, families or solo's
Having read reviews of the hotel, we requested a high floor room with large sunny balcony and were allocated room 469 which didnt disappoint.Spacious room with 2 double beds - the only drawback with being such a large hotel is that it was a long way from the lifts. Paying the extra for sea view was worth every penny.
We could not fault the hotel staff who were all polite and helpful (unlike some of the guests who had obviously left their manners at home!)
Our only experience of the restaurant was for breakfast. There was a vast selection of food to choose from, which was constantly being replenished right up to the end of service. The only criticism is that the tables were very close together, but that is understandable given the sheer number of guests.
The hotel and grounds were immaculate and the hotel has a car park which is a nominal cost and saves trying to find a parking space on the roads. There are lots of bars and restaurants a few minutes walk away in Buggiba.
Overall a great place to stay and we would return again.
"Very nice hotel with friendly staff in great locat"
First of all hotel is easy to reach from airport. I was single traveler and staff met me like long-time-no-see relative. I arrived to the hotel much earlier than check in time but got my room straight away.
Room was very cozy, clean and had everything I needed for my stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly, really attentive and always ready to advice.
On a top floor there's a comfortable terrace with pool and chaise lounges.
And last thing - sparkling wine for breakfast with no extra charge! Can you find anything more charming? :)
One more big thanks to Liz, Asma, Andrea and co. Hope to meet you again! Good luck with what you are doing!
I travel to Malta frequently and my usual hotel was sold out, so this was a last minute booking. Even so I was definitely happy about the price for two nights, bargain!
The reception is bright and airy, but as the front desk is so high, I had to stand on tiptoes to see the receptionist. Luckily she stood up! And what a lovely bright cheery young lady she was, very helpful, very smiley.
I had booked a single room but got a 3-bed room, so had masses of space and choice of bed to sleep in! TV in the room offered very little in the way of decent English speaking channels. There was a small fridge in the room that actually did keep things cool, but the one thing that was glaringly sadly lacking was coffee/tea making facilities.
Come on now, this is basics. I want to wake up and put the mini-kettle on for a brew, not get dressed and go all the way to the restaurant for a quick coffee. There is a vending machine in the reception area, but steer clear, the coffee is just awful! My second coffee was made for me in the bar area. There was a coffee machine, coffee grinds....looked hopeful......tasted godawful, really bad cheap tasting coffee :(
One point I wanted to make, cleaners need to be more vigilant. The floor in my bedroom had a blood stain which had not been wiped clean and crumbs were not wiped away from surfaces.
Despite these niggles, this is a place I would use again for quick two night stay.
Needed a hotel in Malta for a few nights so booked the cheapest available. Was pleasantly surprised. Excellent staff (professional, friendly, knowledgeable), indoor swimming pool, clean rooms. Would definitely use again.

The adjoining resorts of Qawra and Bugibba are set on the large St Paul’s Bay, where St Paul was allegedly shipwrecked. Both resorts were purpose-built in the 1980s. Bugibba has a small square, shops, bars, budget restaurants, nightclubs and a small harbour from which several pleasure boat excursions run. Swimming and water sports take place off the promenade and at lidos. Activities in Qawra tend to be hotel-based.
