"Fun, Fun, Fun, at Sonesta Great Bay Resort"
Beautiful beach, close to Phillipsburg (10 minute walk by the beach from the Hotel.) Sunny skies, calm waves, but a little breezy. Take time to tour the entire island, & other islands close by. One can do as little or as much as they want with a wide choice of tours and or self exploring both on the Dutch & French side of St. Martin. The French side being slightly more upscale & pricy for some tourist items. Both sides are very enjoyable. Be advised the water drops off very quickly in front of the Sonesta Great Bay Resort. It is safe & has a roped off swim area.

"Definitely would stay here again!"
The location was amazing for airplane watching. Food at the Azure restaurant was excellent!!!! Main disappointment was lack of bathrooms. It was a fairly long walk no matter where you were AND that kids were allowed everywhere except for the Pointe which is where we stayed. It was advertised as adults only but except for one area that is not necessarily true. Nightlife and entertainment is pretty much non existent if that is what you are looking for. Regardless we would stay at the Ocean Pointe again for sure which still says a lot. Normally we do not stay at the same place twice. Also morning breakfast at the buffet was best even though there was always a line and lack of any system for seating

"Hotel is very conveniently located ."
The overall hotel was ok. The room was clean but kind of smelled like mold but I'm assuming because it was so humid. The housekeeping came every day and cleaned up. The hotel is very conveniently located it is near all the nightlife and the popular maho beach. The staff was ok not rude but not friendly at all.

"We Can't Wait To Come Back!"
Overall we had a great experience. The resort location in a cove between two mountains on the sea was very romantic; the view was spectacular. Our accommodations were lovely and comfortable (we had a suite facing the marina). All of the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a great resort for couples of any age, including those with children. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets provided excellent choices and quality food, and their menus changed daily. From our perspective, it was far superior having the dinner buffet than eating at the other restaurants on the property, which were disappointing. That said, this didn't spoil a wonderful, relaxing experience. The selection of beverages, including wine and liquor, was great. It is a very quiet all-inclusive resort, which suited us perfectly. No parties are allowed. This might not suit some, but it worked for us very well. The spa experience was excellent. We enjoyed getting Swedish massages. We made this trip, in part, to celebrate my wife's birthday. The hotel management sent a bottle of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries to our room on her birthday. We were pleasantly surprised and delighted by this gesture. We just came back to NYC yesterday and are already dreaming about our return to Riu Palace, St. Martin, Anse Marcel. Merci Beaucoup. A bientot.

"Mixed feelings"
We would easily rate this as 5 out of 5 if there were no hiccups. Here were the challenges: 1) Very basic, expensive and flat breakfast buffet (19 EUR), anything made to order is going to be added on top - ended up paying 50 EUR for 2 omlettes and 2 cappucinos. 2) Toooo many rules which are not followed nor enforced by the beach staff. 3) Beside the reception staff (Stephan & Co) the rest were just warm bodies hanging around - no hello, nothing. 4) Since the beach chairs are offered "free" for guests of the hotel, it gives you the feeling that you're not wanted there and the staff is more attentive to outiside visitors (the ones that are paying 10 EUR / chair). 5) Not really used to have the toilet in a separate closet size "room" w/o a sink (basic hygiene is missing). 6) Taking a shower is quite a challenge if don't want to flood the whole room. 7) Very slow waiters - you may get your glass of wine well after your desert. The goods: Clean room. Helpfull reception staff. Tasty lunch but make sure you get an appetizer first as the main course is french style (the side dish is almost invisible). Amazing deserts. Fairly well maintained beach. Clean beach towels. Decent restaurant (Le Calypso) within walking distance for dinner.
