After I made my reservations I learned that the Hummingbird Beach Resort WAS NOT ON THE LIST OF APPROVED COVID-19 INSPECTED PROPERTIES. Countless numbers of attempts by me to phone the management went unanswered --- I ended up going elsewhere (a property which WAS on the covid approved list -- WASTE OF MY TIME

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room OK but not what we would have expected for the price. Location was great, right on the beach, close to but not right in town. Unfortunately, there is a park only a few feet away where they have “events” with loud music till 2 am some nights. No sleep till the party’s over.

I had no assistance with my luggage upon arrival. Cable TV is non-functional and no Wi-FI for the individual rooms. Other than these shortcomings, my stay was restful and peaceful.

Be warned - The Superior Piton View rooms do not have AC despite what is stated on the Expedia website. In addition the rooms are stuffy and have poor ventilation becoming uncomfortably hot on sunny days. The incredibly noisy fan provided by the hotel didn't really help. This is a great shame as the staff are incredibly friendly, the location great, a short walk into the town. The food is good and the views wonderful. But when your partner has a heart condition and you really need a room with AC as advertised and as booked but the hotel is unable to provide one because all but the Superior Piton View rooms are full (wonder why?) it really turns what could have been a fantastic experience into a poor one. Get a room with AC or if you are someone that doesn't need AC then this is a great, quiet little resort.

The staff was amazing! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The location is the bomb: a beautiful view of Petit Piton, next to a nice beach, and walking distance to town. It is close to many of the islands main attractions. The pool is nice and adjacent to the bar, which was lovely for relaxing afternoons. The food in the restaurant was excellent. I would have liked a room with air conditioning, but would have had to give up the beautiful view from my balcony. The rooms are a bit dated, but the price was right and the location and service couldn't be beat.

Great hotel in a fantastic location
The hotel is in a fantastic location right on the beach with fantastic views of the Pitons. Very short walk into Soufriere if want food and drinks in town.

Loved the view from the restaurant. Our room was a dark (almost basement like) room that had not been updated since the 70's I am guessing. Room #4 Looked nothing the ad picture. No mosquito netting and the TV didn't work (or wasn't hooked up right) 2 crappy pillows on the bed (my neck is still not happy)

Hummingbird Beach Resort is generally quiet and in the most beautiful setting possible on the island. Close proximity to town and many nearby attractions is a major bonus. Great beds, lovely grounds, a sweet little pool, and excellent food top it all off. The staff are phenomenal and get to know you by name, greeting you every time they see you. We loved it here.

Lush landscaping supports many hummingbirds and other birds, as well as frogs and lizards. Downside is prevalence of mosquitos and sand flies. Bug spray essential if you tend to be bitten. Public beach is attractive and not crowded, but shoreline is stone/pebbles and shelves sharply. Beach/swim shoes may be helpful.

The setting was fantastic with an incredible veiw of Gros Piton and the resort had wonderful charm The staff were very polite and accomodating. The grounds were kept very nice with colorful tropical plants and flowers which attracted local birds and many humming birds. The king-size four-poster bed with all around insect netting was very relaxing and comfortable. The room did not have air-conditioning but with the screening on both sides of the double doors and/or the doors open itb was comfortable in light of the constant breeze present. A blanket was even needed one night, However the building that we were in was in need of restoration and repair, The light in the bathroom often did not come on at first, although after a time it would come on. The water pressure was practally non-existant, making showering a challenge.

Saint Lucia on a budget! Originally picked this resort for the cheap price but the friendly staff, location and views is what will be bringing us back! With only 9 rooms it was like having the place to yourself. Rooms were clean and air conditioning was a life saver. Pool is deep and the beach was great! Can’t wait to go back.

Hummingbird is a jewel in the tropical jungle of an unspoilt island paradise. It has all the facilities required to experience st Lucia , fantastic staff and very friendly locals making a living from the islands natural resources without spoiling it. We ate in hummingbirds restaurant most nights and was on a par with the other more exclusive restaurants nearby. Simply fresh food from goods available locally or even caught the same day. The romm we stayed in was air conditioned and much needed, but a little dark due to the need to keep it cool and could do with a bit updating. The garden and view was as natural as you could get, with hummingbirds coming to feed freely around the varander, bliss !! Thankyou to all the staff who made our stay so special.

It's a gem with a fabulous view!
So happy to have stayed at the Hummingbird Resort! The VIEW is just stunning, food was local and excellent, breakfast was always good, service friendly, room was nice size with comfortable bed, beach was adequate with Dive Shop and fabulous snorkeling right there, short walk into town, and so many hummingbirds to watch while dining. If you are looking for a Hilton, go somewhere else. This was just a gem in my book though. Would plan to stay there again.

Mid June in St Lucia
Very nice, helpful and friendly people. Greeted with a rum punch and had a nice dinner in their restaurant. Breakfast was very good, coffee was delicious. It's a unique small hotel on the north end of Soufriere. June is off season, and it was a Friday night. The town was hopping and music played until the early morning hours. Our room was quiet and comfortable.

Great little hotel right on the beach.
Wonderful staff and owner. Great restaurant. A bit pricy but the quality is definitely there. Wonderful location on the beach. Great swimming and good snorkelling just down the shore past the concrete pier. Interesting to see gas bubbles coming up from the caldera while you watch the fish etc. And, the humming birds, of course! The hotel is an easy walk downtown or to the botanical gardens. There a number of "watering holes" that you can stop at if you get thirsty. You need a cab to get to the volcano or to the Pitons. I would suggest that you get the price written down on a business card or something. We had one issue regarding what was verbally agreed to. One thing to be aware of if you have mobility issues. The rooms by the beach have a number of steps down and, of course, up. We down rated the room because the air conditioning was a bit wonky. It finally quit on the last night. There were light fixtures that didn't work and the tub fixtures were dated. The rest of the bathroom had been upgraded. Other rooms may not have these issues. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend the hotel. We will stay there again if have the opportunity to visit St. Lucia again.

This is a quite and very comfortable inn at the edge of the Soufriere harbor. It was peaceful, very comfortable, felt very safe, and was convenient for local activities. The staff was universally helpful and pleasant.

Mixed reactions with regards to Hummingbird. The grounds and room are beautiful. Great. Location. Close to town yet you feel secluded. We didn't use the pool. The water looked murky so didn't feel right about it. The room was nice and appeared clean. The bed was extremely hard so difficult to sleep. Noticed a lign of bites on my arm so suspected there were bed bugs but couldn't be sure. Construction next door which was annoying but not the fault of the resort. Breakfast was so so. The grounds around the resort were awesome and the view spectacular. Best part was the owner Joyce. She was very hospitable and friendly. So overall mixed reviews but unfortunately wouldn't stay again.

Great Views but you get what you pay for
We spent a week here over New Years weekend. Sadly, I wouldn’t stay again. I’d just budget more for a higher end hotel. You truly do get what you pay for in St. Lucia, there are no bargains. I read some reviews and they mentioned that not all rooms have AC. So, I called hotels.com and confirmed that the room I was booking had AC. Unfortunately, our room did not have AC. I don’t think the correct information is being given to third party booking sights. I didn’t make a stink, thinking that we would be fine, it’s the Caribbean right? At least it’s not -6 like a at home. Well, it might have been fine except there are a few drawbacks to not having windows that close. MOSQUITOS!! I was eaten alive. (My boyfriend however was untouched). If you are a magnet for mosquitos, this isn’t the place for you. Also, Soufriere is LOUD on holiday weekends. The street party 1/4 mile away sounded like it was on our balcony. The sound of the waves and tree frogs are soothing but when overpowered by the music, it would have been nice to shut a window. It didn’t stop until 2:30 AM. Smoking Neighbors. Need I say more? We also had a slight issue with no towels being provided upon arrival and a broken toilet. Those were minor inconveniences and were remedied quickly, but still not something you want on a relaxing vacation. Other than that, the staff was nice enough, breakfasts were ok and the pool is refreshing. I just think they need to be more honest about which rooms have AC. I feel dupped.

I would highly recommend this resort!
My husband and I and our two teenage daughters stayed in the cottage November 16-24. Upon arrival we found the air-conditioning was only working in the girls bedroom. There is no air flow or fans in the cottage so it was unbearably hot. We were promptly given an additional room with air-conditioning for the next two days until the master bedroom air was repaired. The staff was amazing! Gabriella, Shirlene, Hilaria (I appologize if I spelled names wrong). Everyone we encountered went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable including the owner Joan who checked in with us almost daily and even had a bottle of wine delivered to our cottage in apology for our troubles. The view from the resort is indescribably beautiful. We found the pool very nice and used it frequently. The food was also amazing. Every meal we had was delicious and breakfast was free every morning. We opted to hire a driver for all our excursions do to the road conditions and driving on the opposite side of the road. Plan to spend a minimum of $30 US for any trip. I would highly recommend this resort!

We were staying 2 nd time in this hotel and never disappointed. Room was huge, but a little bit outdated. The views of Piton are amazing, free breakfast including local food was delicious, and service was very friendly. This hotel is closed to the public beach and all activities. We will come back again.

I enjoyed my stay at this resort because the staff were friendly. You have to specify for a A/C room otherwise you will be in a room without. We booked through hotel.com and the amenities states that the hotel has air conditioned rooms but does not allow you to choose. They can do a better job with the upkeep of the rooms like the toilet seat did not fit, it was a little too small. No entertainment is provided.

The cottage at Hummingbird left a lot to be desired at over $250 per night. I expected and should have received something luxurious but instead it was an old property with old furnishings. The picture shown on Expedia was I believe from a standard room, not the bedroom in the cottage. The advertisement did not indicate it was a two-bed, two-bathroom cottage. I assumed the name was just a name, not an actual cottage! I was there by myself and certainly didn't need all that room. The cottage was kept clean except for the first day when cleaning personnel didn't come until after 4 pm. The TV was an old boxy 35" with no remote. I told the office but they couldn't find a remote even after several days. The pool was filthy. Bugs and debris were in the pool for days and cement surrounding the area had trash and cigarette butts for days. The beach was small but nice but no chairs were provided so where you going to sit??? I will not book a hotel/resort again through Expedia mostly because what you see is not what you get! I really feel I deserve a partial refund due to the unacceptable accommodations.

Excellent stay for 3 nights
Excellent stay, walking distance to the town but out of the way enough to be quieter. Room was very nice as well as pool area. The beach isn't the nicest on the island but probably has the best pitón view we saw and is used mostly by locals. Short drive to Anse Castanet for snorkelling or diving. All hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Location, Location, Location
Hummingbird is all about location. At the edge of Soufrier, on the ocean, with the Petit Piton constantly in view. The open-air bar and restaurant overlooking the small pool with the ocean in the background was quite nice. Tropical foliage is everywhere and we did see a few hummingbirds. We had a problem at check-in because the room they had ready for us did not have AC. We had pre-paid through Hotels.com for an ocean view room with a king bed and AC. It took a lot of time and polite arguing, but we were eventually assigned to the "Cottage" where the views were spectacular and the room was more than adequate. All of the staff were polite, courteouse, helpful and conversational. Plenty of smiles to go around. Within easy walking distance ,the town of Soufrier does not offer much for tourists. It is a poor, ramshackle village that is not ready for prime time. We did walk to the main pier one evening to take a very nice sunset cruise. Anse Chastenet is a short cab ride away with great snorkeling. If you plan to stay at the Hummingbird resort, my advice is to call the hotel directly to verify the amenities you see on line, including AC.

As said by other travellers this hotel is only great for the location and view. Staff are unfriendly and inconsistent in the service that they provide. They don't have knowledge about anything to do with the hotel. The manageress is rude and ran away from problems with others guests. Breakfast was included but inconsistent. On one day we got 1 slice of toast per person an on the other one and a half. The fruit plate consisted of 1 slice of banana and papaya. Shower didn't work and hot water ran out in under a minute.
