A perfect hotel!!
This hotel was spectacular! Very historic and authentic! All of the people working at the hotel were wonderful, it couldn’t have been cleaner, an absolutely perfect stay! Food was fresh, local and delicious! We LOVED it! Might be one of the most beautiful towns we have even been to!

Beautiful hotel and property, like a fairy tale. The location is excellent and all of the staff is very friendly and helpful. Anna one of the restaurants servers was wonderful.

The hotel is an elegant mix of traditional and modern with a convenient downtown location. Walkable to lake, restaurants, bike rental and shopping. Food— both breakfast and dinner—were excellent and served in the sun room/patio. For forst-timers, there could have been more explanation of amenities both inside and near the hotel. Service was friendly but not always consistent. Beds were hard; no air conditioning and surprisingly for a tiny rural town there was a lot of street noise— the combination made for less than ideal sleeping. Nevertheless a great stay and would definitely consider staying again!

Zur post was beautifully decorated and extremely clean. The staff was friendly. The view from our room was outstanding. It almost did not seem real. The hotel is right in the town square so close walking to everything. The included breakfast was not as good as what we had at some other locations but was still very good. Their coffee and cocoa were outstanding though. We would love the opportunity stay here again.

Unique and charming family-run hotel full of character. Because we went in the off-season and the hotel was not full, we were upgraded to an amazing room (403) with a corner balcony and a view over the town and the lake. Our room was modern but had traditional touches, such as handmade pillows in the local style. Breakfast buffet was filling, and service was kind and helpful. Conveniently located near the bus stop and cable car.

Quaint hotel In beautiful town!
Loved St Gilgen, the quaint Christmas Market which was right outside the door of Gasthof Zur Post and the hotel!! Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good restaurant. Nice change of pace from Vienna and Salzburg. Our room was huge and had a beautiful view of the town and the lake. Short walk to catch the ferry to visit St Wolfgang.

Charming hotel in St Gilgen. Room was great, except no AC. Which could be an issue on hot days. Not a fan of the European breakfast buffets though. Overall everything was good.

Very Nice hotel in a quiet town
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Such a cute little town. We came after Easter so it was very quiet. We were the only guests at the hotel first 2 nights. Breakfast was good. Sauna room was nice since we were the only ones there. We loved it here. Short walk to the lake and a nice running route around the lake. Highly recommended for a relaxation vacation

A fantastic hotel that has managed to retain the history and charm of an old building yet still provide a room and the facilities expected of a modern hotel. It's location in St Golden ensures a quiet and relaxed atmosphere but is only a short drive from historical sites including Salzburg and Berchtesgaden. We stayed during during Fasching 2018 so not all facilities were available to us ie bar. Our one suggestion would be to offer some form of tea and coffee making facility in room but this might normally be provided by bar ?

Wonderful inn at the center of town
Fantastic experience. Wonderful staff and beautiful inn at the center of town, minutes walk to the lake. The restaurant was absolutely terrific. Highly recommend on all counts.

perfect location
two standout things for our stay - the beauty os this hotel - the pictures do not do it justice. the setting is one that ever person who comes by, stops and takes a picture. i loved that the outside of the hotel had a overhanging vine covered patio where we had breakfast each morning. secondly, we had a little problem trying to confirm our flights with our devices - even tho the wifi was excellent, i just was not able to get it done. there was a young lady at the front desk who took the time and trouble to make sure that we were confirmed on our flights for the next day, while i did not get her name, i would like everyone to know how polite, helpful and nice she was.

Hotel is located in beautiful village, hotel service is excellent!! Food is great, I think they have best restaurant in town !! Book your table in advance even if you are hotel guest !! They found us the table anyway . I would definitely love to stay again in this hotel.

Perfect hotel in St Gilgen
Set in the main town square this is a very comfortable hotel with excellent restaurant. Room was recently refurbished, very modern room with the "in room" shower and toilet which is a trend in european hotels designed to be "sexy" No bath and the main downside to these rooms is if you need to access the loo in the night unless you have a torch or your mobile app you have to turn on all the room lights so your partner gets woken too.

Fantastic Stay Super Friendly
Our stay was perfect. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and informed us of daily activities within the local area. The Hotel is located in a great spot close to the lake and hiking/bike trails.

The only place I would consider staying!!
Loved the Gasthof Zur post. Beautifully maintained building with all quality Austrian antiques and decor. The breakfast was excellent and the dinner in the restaurant was was a truly fine experience. If I came back to the area I wouldn't consider any place else.

I loved this place. Homey, convenient, great staff, nice room, great shower. Five minute walk to the lake. Restaurants all around it including the on-site restaurant. Breakfast was included and nice as well. Parking was about a block away but was free. The staff was helpful in taking care of our luggage and questions. Our room had a balcony from which we could see the lake. I would return without hesitation. Loved St Gilgen and the Gasthof Zur Post.

Worth a Visit.
We had good weather apart from two days when there was some rain and low cloud. There is a bus service to Saltzburg so we went on a cloudy day. Lots to see and a good journey too.

The perfect break
This is one of my favourite hotels, anywhere. It's beautifully done up with a modern spin on traditional Austrian design, with lovely oak floors and furniture, and brightly coloured soft furnishings. The views are stupendous, overlooking lake and mountains, and the restaurant is great - traditionally designed and serving wonderful traditional food. I would definitely recommend taking half board if you are staying three nights or more as the meals are very good value, too. As for the service, it couldn't be better - everyone is so friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back.

Charming Hotel in centre of a touristy village
Stopped here for one night while touring in Austria. It beautifully located at the centre of the village a few hundred metres from the lake. Its a lovely old building at the front with newer rooms at the back. All the staff were charming and helpful. We decided to eat our evening meal there as it looked like the best restaurant in the village. Breakfast was also better than average with the pleasant option of sitting outside under the vines at the front of the hotel.
