The property is gorgeous, the staff was not as attentive but they got the job done. Advertised a manager’s reception but when showed we were told they were short staffed. Take the flyer down if you are short staffed and there will not be a reception.

The location on the beach was amazing. The staff are unfriendly and rude. Many requests were ignored, lights not working in the room, shower dripping constantly, and housekeeping was non existent. Fortunately for them and us the beach and location was perfect. Wish they cared more about customer service. Seemed like we were always bothering them. Food at the restaurants is meh.

My stay was amazing !!! I went there by myself to celebrate my birthday & the staff made me feel right at home! The resort is so beautiful and peaceful. I would like to thank all staff for making my stay one to remember. Thank you Jahdiera, Damari, Danny, Levisha, Naishma, Mark, Liyah, Gindra, Shyra & I feel like I’m missing a few days but 10/10 I would vacation here every month if I could!!

This was our 3rd time to Carambola, and unfortunately the service was very lacking this trip. The staff didnt seem very interested in taking care of guests efficiently, but more at thier own convenience. The place is beautiful as far as location, but i was disappointed this trip. This has always been my favorite vacation place. We will return to St.Croix for sure, but not sure if Carambola will be our destination on our next trip.

First of all, my check-in experience was awful. I booked through Expedia but the staff there said they did not have a room ready for me when I arrived. They did not seem apologetic at all and even though they tried to make it right by "upgrading" me to a beachfront view room, it ended up feeling more like a downgrade because the room did not have Wifi or a phone in the room. We also did not get any phone service, so no way of calling for help in an emergency. I had paid extra for a kitchenette with my reservation but I was told the best they could do was to add a microwave in the room. The bathroom had a terrible moldy/musty and septic tank odor. I found a cockroach on the bathroom and mold on the tiles in the shower. The bathroom door had to remain shut throughout my stay because of the terrible odor. The pool is not heated and there never seems to be any towels available. The pool was dirty, the couches around the pool were dirty and the ping pong table on the side of the pool was quite literally falling apart. The bricks around the pool were coming loose and created a trip hazard when people walked around the pool . We ate at one of the resort restaurant, and the service was extremely slow. No one was cleaning tables in between guests. We cleaned our own. At any given time, everything ( water bottles, towels, bathroom, wifi etC) seemed to be out of order, out of service or otherwise unavailable. It did not feel like a resort . I have stayed at better motels.

I just got back from Carambola, and there was much anticipation about how it would be after reading many of the reviews. Let me start with the positives: - The views were absolutely spectacular and very quiet, which was what my wife and I were looking for. - the staff was friendly and helpful. I know many people said they were rude, but we didn't experience any worker there who was nothing more than accommodating. - We stayed in room 25; it was clean, well-kept, and had hot showers all day and night. Some people said their showers were cold, but we didn't have that experience. We only stayed for three nights, so we never requested room service. - on the way to the hotel, we asked the taxi to stop at a market, and we picked up alcohol, snacks, and other essentials, so we were happy doing our own thing for the most part. - The food was your typical bar food, and the drinks/bar service was no wait every time I wanted a drink (which was rare since we had our stuff). - The beach was quiet and clean, and the water was gorgeous. They did have limited umberalls, so we found shade under the palm trees and enjoyed every minute of relaxation on the beach. - Our taxi drivers were excellent! Again, this is what we wanted for our 10th anniversary: a secluded, peaceful, quiet, and beautiful beach atmosphere. Now, if you are looking for something more, this place may not be for you. It is a far ride to town; there is not much to do, and it's not a typical resort. Hope this helps

Just delightful! Beautiful property, beach, and pool. It is quite secluded and you need to use a taxi or rent a car if you need groceries, or prefer to eat away from the hotel. Very pricey food and drinks, but I suppose that’s to be expected. The property should consider adding a gift shop for snacks, other essentials.

Do not visit here.. Property is run down. my husband and I were there for 5 days.. worst vacation Ever.. The front desk manager Gentra was the rudest thing.. The room was dirty.. cobb webs everywhere.. And this is supposed to be a marriot property.. Pick another property because this one is not it.. There is no one wi-fi in the room.. We had to go to the front t desk to use our phones.. Ridiculous ..Property is run down looks nothing like the pictures.. Runnn!

First off let me say that im happy i didn’t listen to the reviews. I read previously that the water is cold during showers. Its actually not the shower head to turn on is very complicated.. At first i thought it was cold but as I adjusted the water was hot. The stay was amazing & food was delicious. Transportation we ordered a head of time and drivers were always on time. Overall our stay was elite. We did a few Escursions with mermaid tours and viexoticwatersports. I must say 5 stars all the way.

Be advised they do not have internet they will tell you it will be fixed tomorrow but they are being untruthful. Internet is not necessary for social media but for mapping out the island and safety for communication as well as GPS. They offer housekeeping service but do not show up when they say they will. The front desk staff is rude, the wait staff were very kind and helpful. The overall property is lovely besides some general upkeep. The resort has so much potential but would recommend you stay elsewhere due to the price Breakfast for four people was $130. We won’t be back

This is one of the most beautiful spots on the island. They need to remember that tourism pays their salaries and be more friendly. Beach area was never touched by staff. Trash on the beach and umbrellas broken. If you're going to advertise a "kitchenette" then provide kitchenette items...duh! Need more items on the menu as well.

The service from customer service to housekeeper to bar service were terrible. I read the reviews and just thought it was travelers that had never been to the Caribbean and did not understand island time. This was not that. This was almost none. Went with 3 other couples and 2 of us got maid serve and that was twice the entire week. Even though we askand were told we would get maid service every day. Hour waits for food is to be expected and 30 min waits for drink orders. Went off resort many times and recieved excellent service. The views and beach are awesome. This is not a Marriott hotel. Treat it like its a VRBO with no services and you will have a great time.

The location is great for a relaxing retreat. Car rental is a must as food options are limited. The bar food was good. The Saman restaurant menu was limited for dinner. The breakfast was a little pricey for the selection.

5 star location, 2 1/2 star staff, 1 star management. Literally ran out of food 3 of the 4 nights we stayed. Expedia only refunded 100.00 for the inconvenience. Do not go....at least til they get new management. Shame on Marriott and shame on Expedia.

The property location is beautiful with a beautiful beach and surrounded by lush vegetation. What really took a toll on my perception of the property was the following: 1. Lack of good housekeeping. The housekeepers are supposed to clean rooms M, W,F. However they did. It show up two of the three days we were supposed to get our room cleaned 2. Lack of back towels and towels for Rooms. The beach towels were in such short supply there were days when none were available. Additionally, we were only given two bath towels for our room. With 4 people in it. We reused our towels when we were able to get a few more after reprogram asking for more but those too were on very short supply. We were told that the lack of all towel were due to shortages of workers at the cleaning company. 3. The hotel buildings and facilities were in quite disrepair. Crumbing walks, lights out along the walks, buildings not kept up, etc. it didn’t create a good feel for. Marriot property 4. Lack of food. Most times anything we worked on the menu was “out.” We were told this was due to supply and demand.

Beautiful property. Views of ocean and surrounding scenery is amazing! The staff for the most part were non existent……. The wait staff at the grill acted like they were offended when you tried to order anything!!! And every single time, most of the items on the grill menu were sold out!!! Ridiculous! BUT, the property was amazing!!!

INCOMPETENT & SURLY
The terrible service at this expensive resort ruined our vacation. Throughout our stay most of the staff were unhelpful and/or rude. Complaints and even questions were received with hostility. The room servicing routinely omitted basic amenities and when we told the front desk they shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn't help. This secluded resort ran out of nearly all food a few days into our stay and we had to get costly cab rides 40 minutes away into town in order to eat. Marriott should be embarrassed.

We loved this hotel and are already looking to go back. The staff was very friendly and always greeted us, the gentleman always offered us a ride in the golf cart anytime they saw us walking, and the bar/restaurant staff took the time to answer any questions we had about places to go or things to do. The rooms were extremely comfortable with the air conditioning and 2 ceiling fans. One of our nights we had torrential downpour from about 4:30pm until 8pm but we never had any issues with water coming in or bugs after the fact. We’ve traveled to 20 different places in the last 10 years together and this one is in our top 2! (Tied with Curacao but beats out Jamaica, DR, St Lucia, Cancun, Tulum and Riveria Maya to name a few

Beautiful property that is still under some renovations but the staff is all very friendly and helpful. Only one issue during our entire stay and that was with the service from the wait staff… just be ready to be on island time.

TV and Wi-Fi was horrible. You couldn’t even get local weather for storms. There are two TVs in each room on abutting walls, so, when you turn one on the other one goes on and so on, and so forth, never mind you had less than 15 channels that may or may not come in Wi-Fi to because Wi-Fi keeps going in and out. You could not screen from your phone to the TV. You would need to bring an Amazon stick. The coffee maker blows out, hot steam, and at the end, melted skin off my forearm. I was told by the general manager it was an unfortunate accident, and that they would do nothing but comp one night which I declined my arm will be scarred for life from their cheap coffee makers one free night will not make it better. No phones or alarm clocks in the room can only get ice at the bar which is the only place on the whole resort. The main restaurant has a limited menu which after eating there twice we wouldn’t want to go back again because there are really no other options of our menu is typically pub food with a few salads. Nothing unique, nothing Caribbean literally the cook works in a little corner cabinet to create everything on the menu for the bar. their plantains were like fried potato chips and couldn’t even taste the sweet plantain,the crabcakes it’s just like a cake of stuffing….we might as well just called them crab less cakes. The floors inside the hotel rooms were filthy. He would come out of the shower in five minutes later at the bottom of your feet will be filthyDont go

The property is beautiful, and the beach is gorgeous, but that is where the positive things end. I don't like to Complain but... We stayed from Sept.16-22 When we checked in, we were informed that the main restaurant was closed until November, & the only food option was the Bar & Grill. We decided to give it a try, the service was horrible. There were maybe 4 tables and a total of 10 people there our wait for our food, fried fish, crab cakes & a salad was over an hour and a half. The staff did not check on us, ask if we needed another drink, or even bother to refill a water without us having to ask. We had to go to the bar for napkins, & when we asked for silverware it was an issue. Front desk after check in was a nightmare, We asked if there was an ice machine on property. There was not and the only way to get ice was to take our ice bucket to the bar after 11:00 AM and fill it. We had to request an ice bucket. It was as if we were a burden to them by asking for any kind of help with anything. Housekeeping was the bare minimum; the bed was made for us daily and that is it. Our towels were left in a bag on a chair, the floors were never swept, and the toiletries were just thrown on the counter or in the shower. Coffee and sweeteners were not refilled despite asking. Several days we would come back to our room to find bags or piles of trash just sitting on the common area. Marriott needs to send a quality assurance team down there ASAP and fix some issues.

Staff was very nice! Rooms were moldy smells and the resort itself isn’t very entertaining. Yet so much potential to have a better vibe to attract more visitors
