Paradise Not Lost Casual & Reaxed central location in St Augustine

Ever evolving for your enjoyment. Rehabbing an old retirement home, not the "quaint type". Functional comfortable and fun. Large lot, pet friendly as long as you ask. Free WIFI, bikes, beach gear including surfboards. build a fire, interact with out pet Turkey ,pot belly piglets and chickens. we are 2 miles from the closest beach and historic downtown. This unit is large with a living room and full size kitchen and totally private. You have a patio area out the back door for eating BBQ grill provided), socializing, reading, smoking or just relaxing. we have had groups of 6 stay here and just one. We reside on location, so if you need anything we are available, otherwise we try to be invisible. This is not showroom type of place, it is a work in progress and functional... Im not saying its a dump! LOL, its a mix...for example, the bathroom floor was replaced/rebuilt with beautiful porcelain tile, yet we kept the old funky green colored tub with some chips and wear, there is a brand new toilet but we never plan to replace the old wood window. The prices we set are just geared towards affordability, were not trying to squeeze every nickle of profit we can from the place. We are very busy and it is satisfying to us that people can come and have a memorable time in the St Augustine area, it really is a special place!

WHAT STAY!??
Property owner COMPLETELY ghosted us. Earliest check in time was 4:00. Due to multiple reviews starting that the owner was frequently late for check-in we arrived at 6:00. No obvious access so we called the owner. The first call and all four subsequent calls went straight to voicemail. We waited until 8:15 for a response then booked a hotel. We finally got a response 3 days later - it was a note that we would still be responsible for the handling fees!! I suppose listening to voicemails can be very taxing. I can't really rate the property but the owner gets a zero. Don't bother booking this property unless you need some extra aggravation in your life.

Place was old and needs updating
Homeowners live in back of house. Rooms were not ready when we got there. Wife used bathroom and saw bugs, she would not stay there, got refund, went to hotel and paid about same price. Owners were nice.

Eclectic and fun space
Lots of space, large rooms. Loads of interesting antiques and art. Bed was comfy, kitchen well stocked. Did not use the patio or the bikes. Off a main road, but very quiet. Owner is doing renovations on the house, but not a pro lem for us

Affordable but definitely not fancy
Convenient driving location to major attractions. Nice size space. Dogs welcomed. Only the check-in/out times were provided. Attempted 2 different ways to contact the owner for further information but no response. When we arrived at the check-in time of 4pm, we were told it would not be ready for another hour. After a long day of driving, the heat, and a dog, it was not very convenient to find a place to "hang out" for an hour. The place could benefit from a thorough cleaning and some care. The kitchen floor did not feel completely stable; the bathroom door to the bedroom did not completely close.

eclectic , unusual
Overall I forgot the things that bothered me upon arrival by the time our trip was over . That was due to the amazing good sleep I got and also the friendliness and good naturedness of our host. There were a few things I would've changed possibly but mostly I found all the things I needed and we were super close to the downtown area where all the tourist attractions are located. My daughter loved it as well. Hope to return soon .

very disappointing
We booked this property for a week, but left after one night. Host said the property was a "work in process", and was not lying. It's an old house, not well maintained. No sink had a stopper, so you couldn't fill a sink. Some electrical sockets had no outer plates, leaving exposed wiring. Wi-fi connection was sketchy. There were 2 small window units for air conditioning, but they were not sufficient for size of apartment and Florida heat in June. Floor was old and buckled. There was a small kitchen table, but it was so tilted due to the old floor that it was almost un-useable. Another guest tried to check in for an adjoining apartment, but host was unavailable. We invited them into our apartment, while they waited an hour for the host. This is not a place I can recommend.

Came into town to see a show and do some sightseeing. House was cozy and cute. Enjoyed the eclectic Beach Farm vibes. Pigs in the side yard was a plus!
