The post code given for this hotel was incorrect and so we got completely lost. The hotel staff (Matt I think) were very helpful in helping us to find our way and offered to stay on the phone during our journey. First impressions were good, parking good, hotel clean and friendly. We booked a room for two adults and one child, the bed was comfy but the bathroom was very compact - the child bed was a sofa bed and fine for one night but not sure this would have been good enough for a longer stay. There was a wedding at the hotel which didn't disturb us but breakfast was disappointing - not the food once there was some available and the staff were working flat out. We had an evening meal in the restaurant an this was excellent. Overall a very nice stay.

Staying at the hotel was a pleasant experience, the staff including front desk and dining room were friendly and helpful. The room was small, wardrobe space was minute, exacerbated by the fact that the wardrobe contained a substantial growth of mould - rendering it unusable. The mould was cleaned away after we advised the front desk, however it shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Very centrally situated and within walking distance of most areas. We only had breakfast there which was self service and ok. Had a problem with the water heating in the bath, sink was ok, but the problem was dealt with to my satisfaction.
The hotel had character and was very busy when we arrived in the late afternoon. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was very tasty. We chose the hotel as it was close to the cathedral where we were attending an ordination ceremony the following day.
The only drawback was the noise from people walking through the passage way which linked one part of the town with another. And this continued well into the early hours. As it was a very hot night we had to have our bedroom window open and this meant that we weren't able to get much sleep.
An incredible bed and breakfast, which I didn't want to leave. The room is incredibly comfortable and spacious - an adjoining lounge provides an area to relax in. The room is jam packed with wonderful hidden treats including home made cordial and biscuits, beautiful toiletries made using local lavender and a selection of delicious teas. The host has the most amazing eye for detail and clearly loves what she does. The choice for breakfast was wonderful, as a vegetarian I often have just an item or two to choose from but the host listed off many choices the night before and even let me have a sneak peek of a new vegetarian menu she was close to launching.
I could go on and on. It was wonderful and made me very happy. I will be back.
The hotel is easy to find with good parking.Check in was quick with no problems.Room clean and tidy.Good choice of food at the bar.Can walk to the town or get bus/taxis.Check out was quick with no problems
The city of St Albans, 22 miles north of London, was known as Verulamium in Roman times and was the second largest Roman settlement in Britain. Visitors can learn more about the Roman town at the Verulamium museum, while the Museum of St Albans focuses on more recent history. The clock tower is the oldest medieval belfry in Britain, and the cathedral was a well-worn stop on the Pilgrim Trail.
