The rooms were clean, the staff are professional and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of food to choose from. The location is great close to stores, pubs and restaurants. The metro is right there and just 20 minutes away from the airport.

When we checked in to our room there was an issue with it which meant we asked to be moved. Reception very quickly allocated us a new room, no hassle at all. The hotel is in a fantastic location right opposite the train station. It doesn’t have parking but we parked at the station and it was only £12 for 24 hours. Rooms are really nice, beds very comfortable and the breakfast was lovely.

Central hotel in the busy Newcastle city centre. 50 meters from the train station door and easy walking distance to all main dining and nightlife areas. Rooms basic, clean, quiet aircon. Only downside is that one of the elevators is out of service causing a fairly long wait and there are ongoing refurbishment works in the reception and gym (out of service during our stay).

There are major building works going in at the Hotel which i was not aware of. Only 1 lift works which is a pain ,if on higher floors. Reception area a bit of a mess. If i had know i would have stayed somewhere else.

Good but could be great
Excellent position and room was really lovely, nice size, modern with large tv, tea and coffee, hair dryer and iron, but none of the little extras such as a shower cap or pad and pen both I went out to buy as I was there 5 nights and needed them and no information about the hotel either in a file or in the tv which was broken on arrival however was fixed by maintenance the next day. There was also no information about the hotel with in a file or on the tv. The kitchen was closed for maintenance which I was supposed to get an email about but never did, I was going to book another hotel but they had in there website the kitchen was closed so I booked this one to fine the same problem but the didn’t tell you before arrival. The cleaning was not great however my coffee cups were just rinsed not replaced as the runs of coffee on the outside from myself using them were still there. But generally I would use this hotel again as it’s central and the rooms are good they just need to step up on odd things to make it very good.

Close to the train station (that’s the only positive, if you consider it one). Unless you want an immersive clubbing experience I wouldn’t bother. So noisy. Lift out of order, continued problems with key card and no hot breakfast option.

Very handy for the train station and shopping No floor markings when lift doors opened should be a sign to say which floor the lift had stopped on breakfast was very average some items was cold

I stayed at your Newcastle Hotel Saturday night. Most things were ok. With the exception of the pillows not being very comfortable and there was no hot water for a shower. The tiles behind the toilet in the bathroom were shattered where it looks like someone has kicked them. Breakfast was complete chaos, basic things not there like plates and bacon. I would compare this place to a premier inn. Not horrendous but not great either.

We visit this hotel every year and this was one disappointing year which I will no longer be returning. Walked into the hotel to find the lift was still out of service (same as last year). Then got in our room to find no bed was made up for my granddaughter. We pulled out the sofa bed to find a disgusting state (stains, dirty towels, crisp packets) this is not acceptable when you pay that amount of money for one night. Went down to reception and asked for a new room or this cleaned. We had to repack and move to the lower floor which we had to use the stairs (again) to then find out our new room bed wasn’t made up and blood stained mattress. For my granddaughters first stay in a hotel room this was not a good experience.

Thought room was very good clean smart new. Disappointed with night club outside our window loud music until 3 am. Breakfast was like a cattle market and hot food was only Luke warm.

Arrived at 9am, left the bags in luggage room, arrived back to complete check in at 7pm to be told that only 1 room for the 2 booked was available, because of plumbing issues, the hotel obviously knew that they didn’t have enough rooms at an earlier stage for the day, where was the foresight and planning, we waited an hour to get moved to another hotel, missed dinner reservation, ruined the trip

The only thing this visit was the lifts being out of use. Had to use the service lift which was ok leaving or being in the hotel. But steps when coming back into hotel from outside. Otherwise nothing not to like. Visited a number of times now and will return.

The location is excellent. It is close to major train lines, dining, and walking distance to St James Park. Loved the breakfast every morning. Throughout our 11 days stay, the guests elevators were not in service. At one point even the staff elevator wasn't working as well. Honestly, if the guests elevators are working, i will give this hotel a perfect rating.

Hotel is nice and in an unbeatable location. Breakfast is nice. Beds very room comfortable and the rooms spacious. Couple of gripes; both the guest lifts were out of order and we had to use the service lift up (and needed staff to “unlock”) and then we had to call down using the floor lobby phone to ask them to send the lift up. This is ok, but the floor I was on, the phone wasn’t functional. Also, when we got back to the hotel, we wanted a quick drink, but the bar was closed because the staff were running an audit and said there was no way around that. Then my card stopped working to open the room door. The reception staff couldn’t reset my card and then had to come with me to my room and let me in themselves, which meant my card still didn’t work.

Overall, the hotel is very conveniently located, just across the road from the train station and walking distance from all the attractions. The room Standard is fair - comfortable bed and decent tea/coffee making facilities. Average bathroom that has had the shower upgraded but the rest of it is in need of doing (cracked tiles that have hairs and bits of dirt collecting). The aircon didn’t work and reception didn’t fix despite saying they will. Good choice at breakfast with something for everyone, albeit the quality of some produce (e.g. eggs) could be improved. Note because the hotel is so centrally located there is unavoidable noise until approx 1am

First problem was no lifts working for customers and they hadn’t been working fir three weeks. Had to carry cases up two floors and we are no young ! I felt the room smelt of smoke when entering Lastly shower tiles could do with black mould removing plus the body wash adapter did not work First time disappointed as we always stay at Hampton as easy to access from station No compensation offered !

Lifts not working on arrival …. 2 floors upto reception. Given disabled access rooms on the fourth floor!!!! Told we could use service lift due to mobility issues in the party. Then told service lift wasn’t available resulting in having to struggle down 4 floors to get out. One of party requested moving room… given room on 3rd floor but not disabled access. We were told again that service lift was out of order so struggled. Apparently lift was being fixed later…. Returned still no lift access and struggled again up 3 and four floors. This was ongoing during our stay !!! Room was clean but the shower head disgusting …. Mould growing on it also grouting on tiles looked mouldy and toilet seat loose. Connecting door latch broken and also fitted upside down On a positive note the bed was comfortable and clean, breakfast was very good and staff were friendly.

Unfortunately we do have our guests lifts out of service, we are currently awaiting parts from the engineering company in order to avail them back for guest's use. While we realize that this is of little consequence to yourself, I would like to reassure you that the hotel has taken all action possible; however the timeframe is entirely out of our hands.In the meantime, we are availing the staff lift to be used by our guests, access is being granted by simply given a call to reception from any room or public areas phones (we have one in every room, and also one in every lift lobby in each floor); and our staff would be able to let them in the lift. We do understand is far from ideal, nevertheless, meanwhile that is the solution we are able to provide to this issue. We are also extremely sorry that, at some point during your stay, even the staff lifts were out of order; unfortunately this is something we could not prevent and we have called the service engineers for repairs as soon as it happened. We do have a 24/7 reception available, reception are here to help in any situation where our guests are not comfortable during their stay. If made aware of these issues with the shower and the door latch, we could contact our maintenance department for a shower head change and to fix the latch.Thank you also for all the other points you have brought to our attention, I will ensure this is passed along to the Housekeeping Manager for investigation, rest assure we do not take the cleaning standards issue lightly, that shall not happen again a eventual stay in the future, to you or any of our guests.Further, we have noted this as an important feedback and we will make sure to take all the required steps to improve the service at the property. We are delighted to have you as a valuable guest and we will give our best to serve you better in future. Please be rest assured that it will not go unnoticed.
