Good experience
Nice hotel right on Sparta's main street. This makes it a bit difficult to drive and park, but we were lucky. The room was alright but had no electricity plug (we had to unplug the TV and use the plug in the bathroom to charge our phones). Otherwise the hotel was well kept and service friendly.

Weekend in Sparti
The Lakonia Hotel is very central to the main sites in Sparta, walking distance to the Leonidas statue, ancient Sparta, Archaeological Museum, town square and Museum of the Olive. I experienced very friendly and helpful advice from front desk staff. Because of covid, breakfast is served on a tray in your room, a meal I enjoyed outside on the balcony table. The hotel is an older building and the furnishings are somewhat dated, but the room was clean, comfortable and in good order. Despite being on the busiest street in town with outdoor cafes opposite and beside the hotel, sound does not penetrate once the windows are closed. I spent a comfortable night at the Lakonia before driving to Mistras for a fascinating walk around a UNESCO World Heritage site.

I liked how the property was located almost exactly in the center of the city, and moreover, it was directly across the street from arguably the best and most popular restaurant/bar in town, the Ministry Music Hall. The AC was also fantastic, cooling down the room almost immediately, which was a must because at the time of this writing, Europe was undergoing a heatwave, and some days in Sparta were anywhere from 102° - 104°F (38° - 40°C). Cons were the lack of a trash can in the main area (only trash can was in the bathroom), a small shower, and a half broken door to the balcony - if you didn't open it in a certain way, it looked like the door was going to fall out of the frame. But when it was properly closed, it was still able to create a perfect seal, so I never had any heating or cooling issues. Lastly, the Ministry Hall could get very loud at some times during the night, and I was able to hear a lot of the music and chatter coming from the bar - but that might also be because I was on the first floor in room 107, facing the street.

Nice hotel, Excellent service from helpful staff. Good continental type breakfast. Parking is on the street, but seemed to be always available and safe. Plenty of reasonable restaurants in the vicinity. Mystras, a centre of Frankish and Byzantine history is a fifteen minute drive. The outlook is incomparable. But Mystras is not accessible to anyone with a physical handicap or a strong dislike of heights, or who cannot walk up somewhat difficult and steep stoney paths.

We very much enjoyed our time at the Lakonia Hotel and in Sparta. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, and helped us to find parking in front of the hotel. The room was smallish but clean and comfortable. One small complaint is that it is a bit noisy between rooms and from the corridors The hotel is located in the centre of the city, in close walking distance to the Archeological museum, restaurants and shopping. We also used Sparta as a base to visit nearby Mystras. I also highly recommend visiting the excellent Museum of the Olive and Olive Oil in Sparta.

A gem in the ancient land
Spectacular time. The room was fantastic, the view was fun. Thomas and Kiki (sp?) were amazing and so helpful. I’ll be in town another week at another hotel I already booked and paid for but then I’ll go back to Lakonia for one more night. Next year I won’t bother to look anywhere else.

Probably your best option in Sparta
First, the front desk staff are superb. Helpful, friendly, patient, competent. But the hotel itself is pretty basic--dare I say Spartan? -- and the rooms facing the Main Street are LOUD. Bring earplugs. Breakfast is just okay. Location is convenient to the Ktel bus station -- it's a 10-15 minute walk up one street, and the bust stop for Mistras is just around the corner. Sparta is close to a number of great sites, but the city itself isn't geared towards tourists. It's hard to find a good dinner, for example. But the people are so friendly that it really does make up for whatever the city itself lacks in amenities.

Good hotel for the money
It was a decent hotel right in the center of Sparti. I was there alone on business. Rooms are a bit dated and hallway carpets are not in best condition but, for the price, it was fine. If youre planning on just sleeping then this hotel is fine. No amenities.

Great hotel
Very nice hotel right in the heart of Sparta. Service was very friendly and breakfast was great. Rooms were, well, Spartan, but very functional and clean. Would definitely recommend if you are sight seeing in the area. Very central. Mystras, olive Museum, history museum and ancient Sparta are all very close. Parking can be right out front or just park Sparta style on the Main Street (but if you get there before or after siesta you may have to walk a couple of blocks, no biggie in my books). Some very good restaurants in the immediate area as well.

1 quick night between buses, perfect location, room has all you need, shower is ridiculously small with shower curtain 100% useless and sticks to body the whole time, good balcony, WiFi and air con. Good value but could use a refresh.

Value Hotel in Sparta
Hotel Lakonia is a centrally located, modern hotel in Sparta. Our stay included a good, hot buffet breakfast at a reasonable price. The room was spacious and included a refrigerator. Wifi was adequate. The receptionist was very informative, providing recommendations for museums / places to visit and restaurants.

Room is big enough for a couple to stay. Bathroom is rather small. Room was cold, so had to use heater at full power to sleep. Breakfast was simply amazing. Parked on the street (free) but would be impossible during high season. location is quite nice - in the middle of the city.

Value for money hotel with friendly staff
Very nice hotel for the price paid - close to the main square in Sparti that has some really good restaurants and bars. Staff was also very friendly. Free breakfast in the morning had a good variety of bread, spreads, cereal, drinks and even some local sausage and hams. Highly recommended.

Excellent Sparta Hotel.
Stayed just one night but would have happily stayed more. Sparta is a lovely little town and this hotel is amazing. Lovely staff, nice lobby, nice rooms, great location. Would stay again if in the area.

The hotel hasn't managed to transition to modern times yet. They still allow smoking in their premises and the rooms really stink. The hotel is on a very noisy street, really noisy! There is no sound insulation between walls, you can hear just about anything the people next door are talking about.

We also understand that the bad smell of a room and especially of smoke is a major problem and non-negotiable. Although smoking is strictly prohibited in our rooms, we make every effort to correct such unfortunate facts, when these happen.

Hotel Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was fine, they had the usual foods. The room was on the small side and very noisy. We've been traveling for two weeks and staying in hotels with about the same price as this one, and I will say the beds and pillows here were the least comfortable. This hotel would be fine for a one night stay, but I would not recommend it for more than that.

Great bargain in center of town
Very cute compact little hotel, in center of town, near restaurants, shops, transportation. Lots of business travellers apparently prefer it. The room was small, but had everything, including shower doors. The breakfast room was very nice, the food plenty and delicious. They also have the BEST COFFEE in all of Europe. Very helpful staff.
