From check in on the Thursday it was clear this was not a Luxury hotel let alone a Hotel and Spa.
I understand that due to Covid, restrictions are in place but other hotels have dealt with this in a very different way.
Our initial greeting was simply a ‘Yes’ to my asking do you need to take payment, at no point were we welcomed or told about the mandatory booking of breakfast or the rules surrounding the pool and hot tub.
It was clear that the hotel was very short staffed as the reception desk was closed more often than not and we were never spoken to during our 2 night stay apart from being told on the first morning that we hadn’t booked breakfast and having our breakfast brought to our table on the second (we had to text our order to the out of hours phone number)
Back to the lack of luxury, we went for deluxe room and was greeted with a large room with lots of natural light with a wall of windows, the down side to this was that the room was surrounded by the busiest road in Spalding, even with the windows shut (and blinds closed, no curtains so no darkness) the road noice was unbearable. With no air con in the room a small fan was available but this in itself was so noisy it simply added to the road noice.
Whilst the room and bathroom both appeared clean (but lacking an actual bath), the bed sheet was dirty/grubby and one of the towels was dirty and looked unwashed.
Save yourself the money and stay in the nearby Travelodge it’s cheaper and more luxurious!
