Charming hotel in a charming town
Centrally located in Badenweiler, within easy walking distance of the Cassiopeia baths, the Roman bath ruins, the Burg Baden castle, and many excellent restaurants and cafés. Hotel rooms are in the traditional European style, and breakfast is the customary European spread of breads, fruits, pastries, meats and cheeses. Staff were warm, welcoming and very friendly, and all spoke English. Parking is available behind the hotel, but spaces can be tight for anything larger than a compact/intermediate car. If you are going to the Cassiopeia baths, staff will give you a "spa bag" with towels, robe, slippers etc. I didn't know what to expect from either Badenweiler or the Hotel zur Sonne, but I was very pleasantly surprised by both. Badenweiler is a gem of a town on the edge of the Black Forest, and the Hotel zur Sonne is an excellent place to stay, and a great value too.

Beautiful hotel, lovely but very expensive town
We booked this for 3 people and were told we would have an extra bed added to the room. We did unfortunately arrive late and they closed immediately after we arrived. When we got into the room which was actually an apartment there was only the one queen bed and no one at reception to contact. There was a love seat in the living room which my 14 year old daughter had to try and sleep on. In the morning we were then charged 24 euros for her breakfast!! We made the best of it as the hotel was originally built in the 1600 and truly was beautiful as was the town it’s in(although to expensive for our blood) but on our huge”splurge night” no one slept well. I would still highly recommend the hotel for its charm and beauty and in the morning the front desk staff was lovely, it just was very expensive and we didn’t get the extra bed we requested.

It was a great place to stay, breakfast was delicious and we could order our eggs cooked as we wished and a cappucino to finish. At night, thé restaurant was serving meals that were deliciously prepared.

Excellent hotel in interesting town
We had booked a one night stopover and we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We had our own small balcony which was a bonus. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very good at a reasonable price. As we did not speak German they gave us a menu in English which had been literally translated and made for fun reading. We both ordered fillet steak which was described as cattle fillet -quite charming. Staff all very helpful. Will definitely return for a longer stay as Badenweiler has much to see. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room was exceptionaly large--like a private home. The closet was large enough to accommodate Queen Elizabeth's entourage. Very quiet and convenient parking. There's nothing to complain about at this hotel (except that it is a bit pricey).

Fantastic Stay
The hotel is situated in the centre of town, close to the magnificent and famous thermal baths, and is in a really attractive location. The inn itself is very old and has a romantic feel about it. The breakfast buffet had everything you could wish for, and the dinners were superb, all served with flair and serenity.

A nice surprise
Lovely hotel. Had to stay far out of Basel due to ArtBasel. Satnav took me thru country roads which was not great - the A5 is MUCH better. Going that way, it really isn't too far - so long as you don't have early morning meetings. Service was great and the village really is beautiful. Didn't get the chance to use the Therme which is only across the road. Room was very spacious. It's all a bit dated, looks like it was done in the 80s.... but....when it was done, it was obviously done well and not on the cheap so as long as you don't expect chic and modern, it's great.

Idyllic setting
We were given a room in the building next to the main inn as the main inn was full. Beautiful room with kitchenette, lovely decor, and comfortable bed and our own balcony. Breakfast was an exquisite spread of options, and the dinner in the hotel restaurant, selecting the full 6 course meal with 6 wines for a total of 83 EUs, was amazing. The hotel is 1/2 block from the Thermal spa. Get the full package in the spa to be in the warmer pools.

Wir waren vom 21.12.-22.12.19 im Romantic-Hotel. Im Allgemeinen sehr zufrieden,spez. das Frühstück war super. Leider erhielten wir keine Gästekarte. Auch wurde bei Ankunft nicht erwähnt von wann bis wann man Frühstücken kann. Was das Badezimmer betrifft,die Toilettenschüssel sollte ausgewechselt werden,oder mindestens probieren zu Reinigen,Kalk.

Wirklich romantisches Romantikhotel
Ein wunderschönes Hotel, liebevoll dekoriert in der Weihnachtszeit! Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer mit bequemem Einzelbett ,harter Matratze worauf sich wunderbar schlafen lässt. Das Zimmer war angenehm gross und mit allem eingerichtet was es braucht.Da Advent war stand ein Teller mit Früchten, Nüssen und Weihnachtsgebäck für mich auf dem Tisch. eine schöne Geste. Man fühlt sich als Gast wirklich willkommen. Vor dem Zimmer gab es eine kleine Terrasse mit Tisch und Stuhl mit Blick auf einen Feigenbaum, natürlich auch dieser weihnachtlich mit Lichtern geschmückt. Da die Terrasse auf einen grünen Innenhof geht ist es sehr ruhig und sicher, überhaupt liegt das Hotel sehr ruhig, man ist jedoch trotzdem nur ca 100m von der Therme von Badenweiler und der Shoppingzone entfernt. Ein wirklich entschleunigter Aufenthalt! Es sind genug Parkplätze beim Hotel vorhanden. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig mit Wurst und Käse und Müsli und vielen süssen Aufstrichen. Feine Gipfeli und Brot runden das Angebot ab. Ausserdem sehr zu empfehlen die tollen Menüs zur Essenszeit, wirklich sterneverdächtig lecker! Ich werde sicher wieder kommen!

Accueil très sympathique, personnel très aimable et à l'écoute Chambre un peu chaude mais il y avait un ventilateur assez efficace Magnifique petit déjeuner avec un fantastique choix Très bon repas pris sur la terrasse le premier soir Endroit très silencieux et pourtant il y avait beaucoup de monde dans l'hôtel. A voir les contacts de certains clients avec le personnel, ce sont des personnes satisfaites et qui reviennent régulièrement. Idéalement situé, l'hôtel est à une minute à pied des bains; c'est Top !

Det er bare så hyggeligt igen at besøge dette dejlige hotel. Ligget fantastisk midt i byen og har tilknyttet tysk lækker restaurant med faglig god dygtig betjening. Husk at bestille bord til denne dejlige gamle “krostue”. Morgenmad serveres med et velkendt smil og der mangler ikke noget. En skam man kun bruger hotellet som overnatning, for det og området kan meget mere . Vi skal tilbage igen😀
