Not the luxury experience which is advertised!

Posted 28-Nov-2016
Pros: If it wasn't for Pam on reception, who tried so hard, I would have left. The spa staff are great & try their hardest to improve your experience.
Cons: More well trained staff needed throughout. Show pictures of older rooms which guests will be given to avoid disappointment. CARPARK BARRIER NOTWORKING
Location: Situated close to first exit of M18, next door to an industrial estate on outskirts of Wickersley, Rotherham.
Booked with Experian for 3 nights, but needed to arrive a day earlier, so called the hotel direct & arraigned this. On arrival, my booking hadn't been made. Was shown to a room on 2nd floor, which stank of human feaces. Looked in the toilet & found the reason why. Shown to a 2nd room on 1st floor, which was very tired with stained carpets, worn furnishings & stained bedding. Because I was tired from a 5 hour drive I accepted the room. Next day was asked if I was happy & I expressed my disappointment. Shown to a 3rd room on ground floor, which has been recently refurbished. Much better quality! However, on closer inspection, again, the toilet was soiled & there was no wifi access. (I needed wifi at all times to access security cameras & business banking.) Drilling noise was loud throughout the corridor due to all the fire doors being wedged open. Work men & their equipment have to be navigated around as they are drilling holes in ceilings. The 4th room was accepted as the toilet was clean & had good wifi coverage. As before, the carpet was worn & stained, bedding had stains on & workmen drilling immediately outside my door. Experian emailed to ask how the check in went. I reported my experience. The hotel manager emailed a response stating the soiled toilets were due to a plumbing issue, which has "now been fixed" & there's minimal disruption to isolated areas within the hotel due to refurb & the wifi was being upgraded & rewired.

Hellaby hall hotel

Posted 31-Oct-2016
Pros: Pool , gym & facilities. Quality
Cons: We managed to get the hotel because of a deal, we visit this area regularly so would like to use the hotel again as long as we can get deals.
Location: Rotherham skate Rink
My son had a two day trials so was going to be physically tired after each training session. I wanted a hotel where he could relax and mostly rest between the sessions. We enjoyed the pool and facilities so he was physically prepared for each session.

Upgraded to a suite

Posted 11-Sep-2016
Fabulous. Great overnight stay. Room was clean, bed was very comfy. Breakfast was just right and staff very accommodating. They booked us a cab on request and rebooted the foyer when we couldn't connect to free wifi. Would recommend to friends. . Spa was good with a lovely beauty treatment, a suggestion would be - hire or buy swim suits as we forgot ours and couldn't use the pool or sauna. ............

Beautiful although couple of little issues

Posted 26-Aug-2016 on Hotels
Hotel and grounds are beautiful and great place for relaxing. It is spotless and the pool is great. The service is amazing and the staff are all there to help. Although at one point I was going to the bar and a member of staff told me to wait outside and somebody would come to take our orders after waiting 20 minutes and nobody coming I went in and got the order myself (not ideal as I was on my way in the first place) However the family rooms are next to the gym. So 7am in the morning to be woke up by a Gym class is not ideal with the kids, The class went on for half an hour and the teacher seemed to shout for the whole session. These are my only negatives and I think I would return although I may ask when booking if the room was near the gym. Quite costly to be woken so early.

Very nice hotel depending on where you're room is

Weekend break with two of my children. Very relaxing. Our room was in an area of the hotel under going refurbishment. I may have scored the condition of the hotel higher had we been placed elsewhere

Nice, comfortable stay - would stay again

Posted 15-Aug-2016 on Hotels
On the website this place looks quite fancy and individual, but in reality it's quite like a chain hotel. That's not meant as a criticism, it's still high quality and was great for a 1-night stopover, but if you're looking for somewhere for a treat or going somewhere just for a hotel experience I wouldn't want you to be disappointed. Got slightly lost finding the place - satnav took us to the back door but fortunately they had a map up for people who fall foul of this. Receptionist was welcoming and got someone to help with our bags (we had a baby with us so had a lot of luggage) and also said it would be no problem to help us out with them again when we left. Room was big and clean, good sized comfy bed, only slight negatives were it was a bit warm (so we opened window) and only enough teabags and milk for one cup each. On the plus side though, it was nice and quiet - there was a wedding in the hotel that we didn't hear at all. Breakfast was busy though staff were very polite and quick to make tables available. Very good selection of food which was replenished regularly. Didn't have time to use the leisure facilities though they looked good and receptionist said we could use them all day after we checked out if we'd wanted. Overall this was a nice comfortable stay - would stay there again.

Second time here. Still very comfy and quiet though I'd love a set of towels each. Just booking it for the third time for next week.

Comfortable and quiet yet only one set of towels.

Posted 12-Aug-2016 on Hotels
This is the third time we've booked in the past few weeks, sadly due to a family bereavement. The check in service has been quick and friendly. Rooms spacious, quiet and comfortable. We did ask to move rooma this time as room 34 (which one review claims to be haunted) had a very loud grinding noise coming from the bathroom fan. There were no questions ask and we were swiftly moved to another room. Do ask them for towels though, each time we've booked the wife has snaffled the towels before you realise there's only one set. They've rapidly brought us another set but it'd be nice not to have to call next time. People have commented on a poor breakfast....however unless their Louis XIV I think there's more than ample section and quality though I'd agree the cold drinks would be mucheaper better erm...cold
