The hotel didn't deliver my expectation of 4 star, sheets & carpets were stained, some parts of the carpet in corridors was ripped. it was a 4 star hotel 10 years ago maybe. The room was too hot, breakfast wasn't the best. (well, the pub across the road was better and kids eats free) swimming pool was quiet and enjoyed sauna. Pool staff was so friendly.

Great location but really needs a refurb!

Posted 15-Feb-2017
Well located near the motorway. Rooms are very tired and in desperate need of a refurb. Noise is also a problem from the ventilation system. It was also impossible to control the heating in the room making it extremely hot. All in all close to impossible to sleep. Sorry but I would not recommend.

close to motorway

Posted 08-Feb-2017
Pros: It was quiet and no late night noise
Cons: Cheaper bar snacks
Location: It is close to junction 28 on M1 motorway.we were visiting family but Derbyshire has a lot to offer so it could be a good base.
I would recommend this hotel for short stays of 1 or 2 nights.it is. Comfortable and has very pleasant lounge etc. However on the negative side food and drink is expensive. You would have to drive to get to other restaurants.

Bit noisy in room if you open your windows , due to the M1 motorway but very clean comfortable. Excellent breakfast

good family stop over location

Posted 23-Jan-2017 on Hotels
It's a good place for a family stopover since it's near the motorway and has good facilities. I particularly liked the pool. There are floats for the kids to use and the pool has a nice ambience and changing facilities. We dined in the restaurant and I would recommend it although like many places at the end once you've had your dessert it seems like you have to hunt someone down if you want to sign rather than them bothering to come over to your table again.

3 star not 4 star in spite of the little touches

Posted 22-Jan-2017
Pros: The coffee
Cons: facilities in the rooms and spruce up the paintwork
Location: Right by the M1 so easy access, and a discount outlet place nearby
Stayed for 3 nights as doing a course there. It's ok as a 3 star but definitely is not a 4 star, and many aspecyts are tired looking, such as the doors and paintwork in the bathroom. The coffee area is nice, and for machine coffee it's very good, and I like the little touches of things to snack on, from flying saucer sweets to fruit. The rooms are a usual size, but for a "4 star" hotel lacked a safe in the room, somewhere to hang clothes or towels in the bathroom (this was a pain...), and a small fridge would have been nice. On the plus side, there was a trouser press and an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. The food in the restaurant was bland and over priced
