There was no smoke detector in my room, just wires hanging from the ceiling. I reported it to the rude manager, who would not let guests sit at the tables and chairs in the breakfast area at 10AM. He insisted that the floor had to be swept then. Numerous guests were paying close to $500 a night and wanted to sit at a table. The property had a dirty public lobby bathroom, and this manager was very threatened when I said he was violating code with the smoke detector. I have reported this location to law enforcement for suspected immigration violations, and suspected drug activity. This location should be shut down and this owner deported. He has no hospitality skills.

Good Basic Hotel
This was a good basic hotel. The room was clean, the rest of the hotel, as much as I saw it, was clean, and everything worked except for 2 things. The laundry room was not lighted, and was out of soap, which was fixable, and the light in the bathroom, which was motion-activated, kept going out while I was in the shower. If I waved my hand outside the shower low down, it would come back on, but it was a pain in the neck.

Upon checking in, front desk wanted a cash deposit for incidentals. (Room was booked online with credit card) They wouldn't accept a valid credit card- cash only Room was filthy, bathroom hadn't been cleaned- toothpaste on faucet, mirror filthy. Body hair all over tile floor. Shower didn't drain. Carpets in room were filthy. Still had garbage on the floor from previous guest. Housekeeping only came twice in 6 days. Zero insulation between rooms/ floors. Excessive noise from the room above made sleep impossible. I would highly recommend you find another place to stay.

Extremely loud all night. The place should be checked for bed bugs. Flying gnats all night long. Owner trying to work on property with friends. Lack skills. You would be wise to take this off your list as a property to reserve. The noise from 2nd floor -ceiling of my 1st floor room was overwhelming

Super 8 south bend
Super 8 is not a luxury hotel. But, it should be clean with proper towels, adequate soap and proper sizes pillows. The a/c is minimal.

The staff were friendly and somewhat helpful. But when the front desk staff went on break no one replaced him. He just left a note saying he'd be back. I I needed to find him so he could turn on the lights in the pool area. Most things were clean but when I went to use the washer and dryer, I spent 20 minutes scrubbing the filth and caked on soap out of it so I could stand to use it. It was disgusting. There is a sign that says hotel staff do not take care of the machines, but that needs to change. Someone needs to come from the company that charges for the laundry to clean them. Also, if you put a partial payment into the machine and go get more change, when you return moments later, the machine erases your amount and asks for the full amount again. This did not add enjoyment to my stay either. And lastly the propped open door in the pool room allows bugs of all kinds to end up in the pool. I would not recommend this hotel to others.

Our room was so dirty, stains all over the carpets, curtains, lampshades. There was a bandaid stuck on the doorknob and gum stuck to the back of the bathroom door. Our bed sheets and blankets had an odd smell and one had crusties on it :( We brought our baby and I was not happy about having him crawl around - I didn’t even want to be barefoot. Complementary breakfast was sadddd. Had to run to the gas station to get coffee due to the poor quality dispensed from that machine in the lobby. Kept serving boiling water our entire stay. Staff was nice enough and we didn’t bring any of this up. It is a cheap stay and we aren’t the type, I honestly just was hoping for better. I’ve definitely stayed in up-kept super 8s before that were nothing like this.
