This hotel was wonderful! the rooms are very modern and have some very nice feature, such as the awesome shower/bath combo room. It was very quiet and comfortable, and the location is great! just 5 minutes from downtown.
Stayed just one night for a weekend getaway but would totally return again. Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out; the room was clean and comfy and quiet, the pool and hot tub were very nice, the hotel restaurant had a rather excellent breakfast buffet for a reasonable price. Located right along I-35 just south of downtown, but for those who want to dodge the traffic and take advantage of the awesome CAP METRO system one of the frequent local routes (#7) stops at the street corner immediately southeast of the hotel property. That location was part of the reason that I chose the hotel in the first place, and it was totally worth it, though the hotel was wonderful enough on its own.
I had a little issue with not being told about the incidental fee that would be temporarily charged to my credit card until I was checking in, but other than that, it was a nice stay, the room was clean and the staff was nice. I would recommend this hotel but would like to know about the incidental fee before I checked in
Facility is a totally rehabilitated 1910 mansion in a hilly area near South Congress Street in Austin. Four well appointed rooms upstairs in the mansion, plus a couple of rooms in an adjacent structure. Much careful attention has been given to furnishings, details, etc.
Breakfast is healthy: cereal, fruits and baked goods along with excellent coffee.
Staff was uniformly pleasant and well informed.
This eclectic neighborhood is full of eateries and clubs, but local art is the main theme of South Austin. Fire-dancing and circus acts come alive in the Enchanted Forest, a multi-acre outdoor art, music, and performance art space in South Austin. Visit the Mexican Flea Market on weekends or explore the Cathedral of Junk, a 3-story-high art installation made up of scrap metal and junk.
