Excellent Hotel

Posted 15-Apr-2018
Very friendly hotel owners and staff who make you feel very welcomed. The Room was beautifully decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection. The train station was five minutes walk for our journey to Pompeii... The hotel parking is valet only by a hotel third party partner and costs €18 per day...

An exceptional lodging

Posted 24-Mar-2018
The Palazzo Marziale is a beautifully appointed small hotel near the center of Sorrento and within a few paces of the sea. Every detail of the hotel speaks of history and refinement. The staff, including the proprietor and her daughter are welcoming and gracious. Complimentary aperitifs and hors d'oeuvres are served every evening giving the diverse guests an opportunity to get acquainted. A sumptuous breakfast is served daily. The overall feeling is one of intimacy and tasteful luxury. We would both love to return and can recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a similar experience without hesitation.

What a beautiful hotel/ Full of character and charm and typically Italian which is just what we wanted. Best of all the staff were fantastic. They couldn't do enough for us and also provided us with plenty of useful information for our weekend break. Lovely weekend and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Characterful hotel near to sea and centre of town

Posted 06-Mar-2018
Pros: Everything
Cons: Would have preferred bigger tea cups in the room, but to be fair they are in keeping with the surroundings
Location: Centrally located, lots of restaurants and shops as well as historic sites
We had a lovely 4 night stay at Palazzo Marziale, great location, right near the centre and the little back streets with the quirky shops and a surprise to us just across the road from the sea, although getting down to it took longer. A wonderful hotel, beautiful rooms and very comfortable, a real gem. The staff couldn't do enough for you and made you feel like a house guest or friend rather than anomous hotel guest. Their knowledge over a broad spectrum of requests seemed to have no bounds. Cannot recommend too highly

Best decision we made on honeymoon

Posted 13-Jan-2018 on Hotels
Hands down the best option in Sorrento. My wife and I stayed here (stop 3 on our honeymoon) and this exceed ALL expectations by far! Paola and her staff are amazing, the rooms were very comfortable, and the building had such great history. We would rate this 6 out of 5 if we could and will certainly go back, if we're lucky enough ;)

Centrally located hotel close to all amenities and attractions. We had a very comfortable room that was spacious, spotless and modern. The breakfast buffet was lovely with great fresh breads, cheese, meats, fruit, cooked vegetables and cakes. Coffee freshly made. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Complimentary drinks and snacks in the evening.

Wonderful Staff - great location

Driving on the Amalfi Coast is a nightmare and Sorrento unofficially marks the beginning on that coast. So, Sorrento is a good place to park or turn in your rentcar and go to plan "b" for exploration of the Coast. In Sorrento there is a small public square that has a VERY long ramp that leads down a couple of hundred feet to the shoreline - that goes down/up for basically 1 Euro each direction. This hotel is directly across the street from that square. The ferry port from which boats leave for Naples, Amalfi, Capri, Positano etc can be reached via taxi or by taking the elevator or ramp from the square. Since we were there in October the restaurant in the hotel was closed because it is no longer "the season" however, they still serve free munchies and wine at happy hour everyday on the terrace where the restaurant operates during the season. The hotel is finished in period style but updated with nice bathrooms and fixtures. The staff on the front desk is just wonderful. They can arrange tours, taxis etc for you - they are licensed travel agents - and nothing seems to be too much trouble. I will warn you that the Amalfi Coast is NOT cheap. It seems that when you open the door of a taxi in Sorrento - you can just assume it will be at least 20 Euro regardless of time or distance. While I think this is a bit of a ripoff - you can't blame the hotel for it. We had the same experience everywhere regardless of who booked or how we got a taxi.
