The room was spacious and clean. Nothing fancy but nevertheless quite adequate for our stay in Sonora. The large refrigerator and microwave were appreciated and quite convenient. A coffee machine was provided in the room with cups that were microwave friendly so we were also able to make tea. Room came with a rather large bathroom that included a hair dryer. Large flat screen TV and king size bed made our stay comfortable. If the weather had been better, we could have used the outside patio with pergola and cafe table with chairs. Room was very quiet except there was a little bit of noise from the upstairs guest walking around in the early morning so if you are concerned about noise make sure to get an upstairs room.
This was our 1st stay at this hotel. The entire staff from the front desk to housekeeping were excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and very clean.
The restaurant is equally as good as the hotel. Although we only ate breakfast here it was very good. Portions were good sized and quality is very good. I would recommend this place to anyone. We even decided to extend our stay for an extra night. Thank you to the staffing for a great stay !!!
Howard at the front desk was very helpful. We had messed up our booking and he fixed it on the phone through Expedia. Can't speak more highly of the staff and the hotel. Will recommend to everyone in Australia.
Its old, the walls are thin, the rooms are small, but its comfortable, warm, and solid. The people are great, my wife and I stay there every time we visit Sonora. Its a historical building, so if you're looking for Best Western, Holiday Inn or even a Motel 6 type of place, keep looking. We won't stay anywhere else! We love the hundred year old elevator, the squeaky floors and the narrow hallways.
We had a nice experience during our stay except for the housekeeping. Everytime we came back from our trip, our pillows are not arranged the way it should be, however, the staff are great! Overall, we had a nice stay!

We spent the weekend at The Historic National Hotel in James Town and it was great. The room was clean, the staff was nice and the food at the restaurant was delicious. Everybody was friendly including the other guests. At the hotel you feel like you were in the gold rush time. I definitely recommand the hotel.
"One of the authentic historic old hotels of Calif."
We are Victorian era buffs and really liked this authentic period hotel and its furnishings.
It is right downtown on the busiest street and this very old building has little or no soundproofing. If you are a light sleeper do not stay here, there is a lot of street noise until after 2am.! Lots of motorcycles roaring by.
Being downtown has a plus side however. You can walk the neat business area which its late 1800's buildings. The residents were nice and it feels safe to walk in the area, even in the evening.
Sonora is good sized and also has a new developing area where you can get everything you need including all the burger joints.
We decided recently to visit Columbia State Park as a warmer springtime alternative to Bodega Bay. This motel, conveniently located just off Main St. in Jamestown, is only a short distance from Columbia.
The Jamestown Railtown Motel met all expectations and was a perfect choice. We thoroughly enjoyed Jamestown, and found The Jamestown Hotel to be a perfect place to unwind at the end of our day. Dog-friendly (we had one) and featuring a great outdoor patio overlooking Main St., the staff were welcoming and all friendly. We enjoyed a bottle wine, followed by an excellent steak dinner, and then came back for breakfast the next morning. When we left, on Sunday morning, this little state park picnic-focused overnighter was clearly the first but not our last trip to Jamestown. We will be back.

We were looking for a hotel close to Yosemite to spend the night. Mapquest mapped it to about an hour from Yosemite falls, but it is actually an hour to the park entrance and another 35 minutes to Yosemite Village. Distance aside, we arrived around 10 pm, had a very quick checkin. The room was clean, had direct tv. We went to bed and left in the morning around 9. Great stop when we didn't want to spend a fortune on a hotel we were only going to sleep at. It was perfect for our needs.

Named by miners from Sonora Mexico who settled here in 1848, the city of Sonora rests in the Sierra Nevada foothills, in the heart of California’s Gold Country. The city boasts the area’s largest historic downtown district, and hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year. Many of Sonora’s buildings date back to the 1800s, including the restored Opera Hall, built in 1885.
