First, the staff and service was amazing, one of the best we'd ever had at a hotel. They're so nice, welcoming and helpful. We feel the hotel is let down by possibly a lack of investment and some bad decisions.
For example, at the end of one corridor is a smoking area and this allows the smell of smoke to fill the whole bottom corridor of the hotel, this is also next to the children's games room.
Next the walls are so thin to the point where my wife was woken up by the next room switching on the light switch at 3am, then being able to listen to the noises from the bathroom, water running etc etc. Our room had a door to allow for an adjoining room, I could hear full conversations next door whilst trying to get to sleep.
The bathroom whilst adequate really needs attention, the doorstop behind the door was missing just leaving a screw poking out from the floor. The door itself looks like someone had previously had to force it open, cracks all round the hinges and the bath made a horrible squeak every time you moved an inch whilst showering.
It felt like other guests had absolutely no respect for any other guest, from kids running up and down the corridor at midnight shouting to a woman playing videos at full volume on her phone in the restaurant at dinner.
The rooms could benefit from aircon as whilst the windows do open, it doesn't feel safe being on the ground floor with your windows open.
I don't think we'd stay here again but the location was perfect.
