Wifi didn't work. Needed to change room. The sink has rustic residue in it that doesn't go away. But for the price, it's acceptable.

Great, clean and nice place to stay

Posted 27-Jan-2016
Pros: My Contractor
Cons: The shower curtain, when you shower the curtain touches you, They make a arch curtain rod that keeps it away from you.
Location: Don't know I was working
Beds are very comfortable and rooms are big. The restaurant next door has excellent food

Nice hotel near national park

The hotel is Quiet, clean, and comfortable. They provide everything you need and you probably need ( shower cap, microwave, hot spa). The breakfast is also good. The location is good (near a small plaza, many restaurants).

Service with a smile!

Posted 03-Oct-2015 on Hotels
I was very pleased initially because check in was at 3:00 but the desk clerk got our room ready at 1:00 so we could get dressed for a wedding we were attending in nearby Gonzales CA. The general manager was not very hospitable and could benefit from going to work for In and Out hamburger where service with a smile is mandatory. She was very "Stone Faced" and never smiled. She wasn't unpleasant or rude but she lacked in making us feel welcome.

Can't recommend this one

I chose this motel primarily for the pool and spa, since there is a much less expensive motel next door, in similar condition but with no pool/spa. The pool is not heated--like swimming in ice water--and was covered with an oily film + plenty of dead bugs with no net in sight/available to remove them. I suspect that the filter is not working properly. The spa was luke warm/baby's bath temperature the two times that I tried to get in. Our room facing the parking lot was run down and noisy--traffic and dogs barking ALL NIGHT. The bed was sagging and the pillow lumpy. Most of the breakfast food is loaded with sugar--packaged sweet rolls, sweet cereal, and sweetened yogurt. We were promised a AAA discount which was not reflected in our bill, and the motel charges a $4/night energy use surcharge that is not disclosed in the Hotels.com pricing. A very savvy woman with some authority staffed the front desk on our second day there. She was able to credit us with the promised AAA discount and transfer us to a quiet, comfortable room on the interior. She and the manager are both helpful and accommodating/able to solve problems and address guests complaints, so best to wait for one of them to appear. Overall, I found Vally Harvest Inn a bit overpriced, considering the condition/temperature of the pools...and they have raised their prices since we booked rooms there. For $50/night less, I can stay next door and buy my own breakfast.

Solid Travel Hotel

Posted 16-Sep-2015 on Hotels
A simple travel hotel right off the 101. The room was large and quite clean with functioning wireless/ac/fridge/satellite etc. It has a somewhat outdated style, but was comfortable and did not look at all run down (the bathrooms looked remodeled) The bed was a bit stiff, but not bad at all. Service was excellent besides a glitch with their computer and my reservation, but was sorted out in 5 minutes by pulling up my hotels.com receipt for the booking. A perfectly acceptable travel hotel for a arcata -> san diego drive, or an overnight stay for the pinnacles.
