Took one star off for cleanliness because all the glass doors and mirrors in the lobby and in my room needed Windex! other than that it was clean, and everything was in good working order. The workout room was awesome, gorgeous lobby, and the staff was super helpful with little things that made the difference- great stay, will be back!!
I stay here every time I come to see my mom. It is convientent to shopping of all sorts and parks. Very close to interstate. There is even a Holocost Museum within a few miles. The staff is fantastic. I have never had a problem getting something I might need. Even if I didn't need anything they are very friendly. Will continue to stay here again and again.
This was a pleasing surprise, given our miscreant booking practice. Duty Reception staff (the Chicagoan) set the perfect tone for the house; warm, friendly, engaging, helpful and authentic. The room didn't disappoint and, despite its heritage, the hotel has been extremely well maintained, and remains a fine old hotel due to good housekeeping. Unfortunately the same could not be said for solitary restaurant staffer (at in-house 'Quince') whose appraoch to tipping revealed the worst of American hospitality. For those who travel rarely to USA, it provided some rationale, sadly. Evanston was an unexpected joy, everything was close to the quiet and stately Homestead, and the chance to meet and chat with the friendly locals compensated for the complete lack of public signage. Windy it may be, but we will remember the great weather, the quiet streets with lovely walks, the fine dining and the generous folk of North Ill for some time.

This charming Williamsburg-style hotel has offered warm hospitality for 80 years. Sitting on a tree-lined residential street …More
The staff were very efficient and friendly. The breakfast (included) was excellent. The only problem was with the air conditioner. It kept switching on and off, and was very noisy. The location was good, just a short drive to the CTA station. Unfortunately, the yellow line wasn't running this summer, which meant we had to take a (free) shuttle bus to the red line to get to downtown Chicago. It added an extra 20 minutes to the trip. If you're looking for a fancy hotel don't come here, but we were satisfied with our stay.
Home to one of the most diverse populations in the Chicago area, Skokie hosts a Festival of Cultures every May. A sculpture park in town features 70 different works of art. Just north of the park is a statue to Mahatma Gandhi. The campus of Northwestern University occupies much of Evanston. This tree-lined suburb also claims to be the birthplace of the ice cream sundae.
