Positives: nice lobby. Can store bikes locked up inside. Pleasant check-in. Negatives: very dated room. Fairly far out from main areas of Skipton. Pool was closed (we are doing coast to coast cycle and this was the main reason for booking this hotel).

Check out could have been better only one person working who was dealing with long phone call, this caused a queue waiting to check out. Solution, more safe at desk or on the phone until the 10am checkout deadline.

We left both booked rooms within an hour of arrival. They were dirty, smelly and in dire need of refurbishing. The hotel smells like a badly run nursing home. Furniture old, dirty and stained. We will be seeking full refunds. Dirty net curtain, masquerading as a four poster bed canopy, obliterated tv view from bed. Couldn’t book a meal on arrival. Couldn’t book in for breakfast between 8.25am and 10am. 3 star food hygiene rating - sticker hidden behind a plant. Dirty cups. Old, yellowed kettle. Bathrooms and room woodwork chipped and grubby. The smell throughout the rooms and hotel was stale and sickening. Old and dirty blankets in wardrobe. I thank the reception staff for trying their best but the place needs a major refit.

The property is outdated, which is fine, however, it was NOT clean. Our room was so smelly and hot, the mattress was SO uncomfortable. We had booked for two nights, but left early, without a refund...it was NOT worth staying another night in this place. We booked a last minute room at the Wooly Sheep pub on the high street, which was delightful!

Having paid for the upgraded canal side room, a little disappointing, to find internal windows dirty and smeared, and bedroom furniture dated and tired, cracked vanity unit in bathroom, drawer knobs loose and falling off. Also not enough sockets, had to unplug fridge or lamp to plug kettle in. Christmas lunch @ £140 for two very poor and disappointing would only give a generous 5 0ut of 10 for quality and service.

Room was very good. Quiet hotel and very clean ... seemed to be lacking in staff, check in not the friendliest .... car park massively busy although the hotel didnt seem to be. Breakfast was good, situated well for getting into Skipton

Overall the stay was reasonable. However the headboard on the bed was in need of a repair as it was all ripped. When I walked into the room the radiator had been turned up to full so it was about 30 degrees in the room. The accompanying details sheet in the room stated that check out was at 10am. I was woken up at 8am by someone trying to break into the room. This made me uneasy. I was the further alerted by someone knocking on the door at 9am saying they were housekeeping. I felt very harassed like I was being kicked out well before the stated check out time. I did feedback to the colleague on the desk when I checked out but no offer of compensation or discount for the distress it caused me. He said he would pass it onto housekeeping however.

Lovely weeked for Skipton Christmas Markets
2nd time staying at the hotel, shame the conservatory overlooking the canal was closed however it was for repairs. Staff are friendly & welcoming, food is lovely & Saturday night female singer was excellant got everyone involved. Loved having the pool however it could do with some TLC.

Rugby Old Boys overnight stay
I only used it for bed and breakfast but the rooms are large, bed comfy and breakfast was great. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful

Unfortunately put in a dog friendly room so the first night was like sleeping in a kennel as the 2 dogs next door frequently barked. Thankfully there were no did next door on the 2nd night

Nice location beside Leeds-Liverpool canal allowing an interesting canalside walk into town. Larger than average room with a huge comfy bed and a very good breakfast with plenty of choices

Not as good as expected
We had a luxury suite overlooking th canal, unfortuanatey it also over looked the Bins and waste storage and the back end of the hotel (all the extractors for the kitchens and the aircon units, it was only accessible via stairs, between lift floors, this was on a half floor level. the most annoying thing was the contant noise from the fans fitted tp the rear of the building leading to a very disturbed sleep.

Very poor quality, rude uninterested check in staff, dirty and poor quality room for £207 per night. But great breakfast! Have any of these hotels ever been to a European hotel ? See the difference and often cheaper

Our weekend of Hell
The hotel is very dated, no air conditioning in the rooms. Rooms are not as advertised. I booked what i thought had a 4 poster bed and it wasn't at all. Privacy windows meant i could not see out of the windows at all but the coach parked at the side of our room had a perfect view inside. The shower head wouldn't lock in place so it meant the whole bathroom flooded in seconds. When we were moved due to being upset with the room we were put in a twin room half the size with a tiny window and were told this was an upgrade. Hugely disappointed with the whole experience. At check out other guests had experienced the same thing as ourselves. Paid £200 a night for something not even worth £50. A travelogde would have been a better decision. Completing ruined our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Could not recommend the place to anyone.

the hotel is rated a 4 star venue, however it is far from 4 start. I'm assuming it is rated as a 4 start venue because of the leisure facilities but the rooms are very very tired and the venue is in desperate need of being updated and upgraded.

Man on reception was very helpful as we had forgotten something. Breakfast was very good again as we have stayed before. Its ina very convenient place too.
