Hellifield has one of the major stations on the Settle to Carlisle railway line, and this is just a Eight minute walk, allowing visitors to enjoy the magnificent views surrounding the area whilst they sit back and relax, and giving the opportunity to visit some of Yorkshire’s famous landmarks and market towns without having to worry about the driving or the parking. Hellifield station has an impressive glass canopy roof, allowing you to experience the remarkable craftsmanship of times gone by. There is a cafe at the station which is open daily, the owners would recommend the ’fireman’s breakfast’ to give you a hearty start to the day! The village of Hellifield is very well served with a pub, Post Office, general store, an excellent butchers shop, a fish and chip shop, a flower shop, hairdressers, a church, a chapel and doctor’s surgery for your convenience.
The popular dales market town of Settle is just six miles away with its traditional mix of gift shops, tearooms, restaurants and general stores all housed within stunning architecture which adorns this quaint town. Skipton is just a ten mile drive to the east, with its vast array of tourist attractions including its beautifully preserved Norman Castle, museum, ancient inns, restaurants, tearooms and a good mix of modern shops. There is fly fishing on the Coniston Cold Estate, balloon flights with Airbourne Adventures, boat trips, boat hire, climbing and caving, cycle hire, guided walks and horse riding to mention a few.
The area is wonderful for walking and cycling, and secure bicycle storage is available at Book Cottage. However you chose to spend your time at Brook Cottage, you are sure to be blown away by the stunning rolling green hills that adorn the area, and the vast array of entertainment on
