I was disappointed with this hotel. Initially seems a hotel where you can sleep peaceful. I found two major inconvenients. 1) This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. My room was large. It had two floors and two rooms in the upper floor. The doors (front door and room doors) has no interior locks!! Or at least I never found it. Been in the middle of nowhere and some rooms having independent entrance (from the main hotel entrance) this was for me a security issue. 2. No air conditioner!!!! I went during the third week of October. Temperature was oscillating between 60s and 70s and the turned off the air conditioner. The room was very warm!!!! When I called they brought two fans and told to us that we could open the windows. Considering that still is not winter and also this hotel is in the middle of rural area where there are a lot of mosquitoes and other insects forget about open the windows!! On the other hand the staff was nice. The restaurant is a good one. Restaurant staff was also very nice and accessible. But my personal opinion is that hotel is too expensive and does not filled my expectations. The most near town is Siena and is 15-20 min from there.

But we would like to clarify some points with other Expedia users:1/ As you may clearly see the location of our hotel on our website and on all platforms , Borgo Scopeto Wine & Country Relais is located in the Tuscan countryside , immersed in nature, a few kilometers from the city of Siena.This destination offers a lot of lush hills, clear waters, mountains and natural parks, caves, castles and enchanted villages, art cities, hot springs and ancient trails. It’s the best location where you may listen just the voice of nature and you may refresh your soul .As the hotel is located in a monumental building all the rooms are different, which means that we have many options available to meet different types of guest preferences. Please contact us during your stay, as we would have been able to do something about it or would have changed you to a different room .2/ Due to the change of the season and Considering the feedbacks of majority of guests we turned off the air conditioner system and we provided fans for our guests .We would like to add also the information that Our hotel is regularly disinfected against insects and we never received any feedback about mosquitoes or any insects issues .We wish you have notified us of this situation during your stay , as we would have been able do something about it .We are sorry and apologise for not being able to please you during your stay in our hotel .As hotel management, we’ll try hard for the best service for our guest during their stay, and our priority is our guest’s satisfaction since the beginning of our mission. Borgo Scopeto is a true luxury relais. The rooms are beautifully decorated, everything is geared towards relaxation and creature comfort. I have no qualms with its five star rating. It is truly a beautiful property and a wonderful experience.

Nice welcome. Rooms small. Couldn’t get cup of coffee before breakfast. Breakfast food sufficient. Dinner menu went for fancy rather than taste. Very expensive and average at best. For the price it was not worth it.

This property has beautiful grounds but is in the middle of nowhere. The hotel is pretty but good is less than mediocre. If you want to eat in town be prepared to pay 90-110 euros for a taxi for a delicious inexpensive meal in town that is much better than the hotel. The hotel has no air conditioner although they say they do. The rooms are hot and uncomfortable. The spa hot tub is cold. Stay closer to Sienna and skip this hotel. Water is not complimentary be prepare to pay 9 euros per bottle. Staff service is mediocre.

Beautiful Stay
The property is beautiful and impressive. The breakfast buffet was really good and the service was attentive and friendly. The rooms were spacious. Bed is a bit firm and the air conditioning is managed at the front desk. We tried to get ours to go lower than 22 c as the days we were there were extremely hot, but the ac would not adjust and the front desk said that was the minimum and all rooms were set as such. They did bring us a fan which was helpful, but just an fyi if you run hot at night. Pool area is really nice. We did not play tennis but they have a couple courts on property. Overall, most staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and they make a great Old Fashion

Gorgeous property in beautiful setting. Rooms ample size. Clean. Staff very attentive. Only thing that was a downfall is dogs not allowed in bar, which is unusual for a ‘dog friendly’ hotel. The Resturant, I understand due to hygiene. Food in Resturant was lovely. Breakfast also super nice. Had a massage in the spa which was really good. All in all a fabulous stay and we would love to come back. Will definitley reccomend.

Service was excellent - from the front desk, to the concierge, spa, pool bar and restaurant, everyone we interacted with was very friendly, helpful and professional. The service was flawless! My only complaint is the number of children at the main pool. There were so many (seemingly related) families with small children that descended upon the pool in the afternoon that it made it difficult to enjoy for those who wanted to relax in a quiet environment. I understand that from June 1, the other pool is open and maybe this is not a problem then. Would definitely return, notwithstanding the splashing kiddos :)

Nice countryside setting. Friendly, helpful staff. However, for a very expensive 5-star hotel to not be able to turn on air conditioning in an unexpectedly hotter spring week was outrageous to us. That’s not a 5-star experience. The room was 80 degrees! They explained that they don’t turn it on during that time of year. The high end property we stayed at in Florence did. These owners are simply cheap. It ruined our experience there. Oh…they gave us a fan.

We loved the location with its beautiful views. Food and service were excellent, better than most. We were glad the restaurant offered many choices because driving on those mountain roads after dark was not something we wanted to try. If I had to comment on a negative: Thank goodness we are average size. Anyone with a serious weight problem would not be able to fit in that very narrow shower stall.

Charming surrounds but room for improvement inside
The first 'upgraded' room (911) had a rock hard bed which we tried to sleep on but got no sleep whatsoever. There were also 2 spiders in the bathroom and the floor was like cold external paving and was not the nicest welcome. The staff were accommodating in finding us a more comfortable bed in another room however the next one, inside the main building also had a hard bed but was warmer inside. We asked for a memory foam mattress topper which was provided and made a huge difference. Also anything we requested was quickly provided - a document to be printed and an iron and ironing board. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. If you want a comfortable bed make sure you ask for the mattress topper. Have never slept in such a rock hard bed in my life and the front desk staff told us they mattresses were new (12 months old) and supposedly expensive. Whoever picked these mattresses did a very bad job and does not understand customers at all. They need memory foam mattress toppers on them all. The bed is such an important part of the stay and should be considered. The rooms are expensive and so you would expect a comfortable nights stay with a decent bed. There is room for improvement. The hotel is a bit out of the way through winding narrow roads but the grounds/outside are quite charming.
