Get what you pay for I suppose.. I’ve been to some great hotels and some absolute tips. The old bell falls into the latter category. Put simply, from the minute a grumpy sour faced barmaid checked me in, I had a feeling... Anyway, the room was disgusting. If environmental health were to walk in it would be shut down. From the bathroom peddle bin with a rusted broken peddle, to the hairs in the bath, to the tide marks on the pillow case/quilt/sheet, what appears to be damp in the corners, to the stain on the carpet where someone has peed/thrown up outside the door, the phlegm on the wall next to the bed, which would have difficulty fitting a ten year old in to the tv that doesn’t work properly (not surprising looking at the dodgy wiring behind it). Plus points, err, there was a kettle in the room with a refilled bottle of water... but judging by the sheer state of the bath, walls, floor, everything in fact, I didn’t fancy risking it. I thought surely the breakfast must be ok, but, alas, no. That was filth too. I know it’s cheap but this place is a health hazard. I’ve stayed in cleaner hostels in some real hell holes around the world!
