For a Hyatt I was very disappointed. During our stay each day we watched staff let people in from the back door to use the pool and breakfast buffet. When they were done using the amenities they would leave through the back. The pool area had no towels available ever but the people coming in from outside would come prepared with their own. When I’d go to the front desk to ask for towels, the staff either shrugged my request off or acted like it was a huge burden to retrieve some towels. The buffet is not very good. If the food is actually there the eggs are most likely powder eggs. The coffee is decent but one of the days the half and half was already expired. Didn’t notice until I took a sip. The little store area was always low on stock. The room was nice and seemed clean. Overall this is probably one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. I’ve stayed in some crummy ones but for the price I knew what to expect. What you pay for this Hyatt Place in midtown anchorage you can get an overall better experience elsewhere. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that the sauna wasn’t working and wouldn’t be fixed anytime soon. That was extremely disappointing, as the spa was the main reason we were willing to spend more money to stay here. Had we known, we would have chosen a more affordable hotel that at least included breakfast. What made the situation worse was that the staff didn’t seem particularly apologetic and didn’t offer any kind of compensation or gesture of goodwill, such as complimentary breakfast. The room itself also had a few issues. It was on street level, and the blinds were quite see-through, so we could clearly see the lights from passing cars and people outside, which made it feel less private and disrupted the atmosphere. There was also no hair dryer in the room, we had to request one after arriving. Overall, the stay didn’t meet our expectations, especially considering the price we paid. Because of this experience, I wouldn’t stay here again and will be seeking a partial refund." Rooms that were not even available when we booked (per the front desk staff). The room they tried to give us was so tight that you had to climb over the bed to get to the bathroom. When we went to complain about the room size we were hesitantly "upgraded" to a deluxe room. The deluxe room was the room pictured on the website under standard rooms and was still smaller than a standard room in any other hotel I have ever stayed in. The website also says that the hotel is pet friendly, and does not specify that only certain rooms allow pets. The room we were put in was not pet friendly and they forced us to leave our dog in the truck overnight. Overall we had a terrible experience with this hotel, we over paid for the experience we had and we will absolutely not be going back, nor would we recommend this hotel to anyone.
