Great but one bad experience ruined our stay.
The room was perfect and clean. It was loud because we were on a lower level. If you pay more, then you can have a room on a higher floor which I assume means less traffic noise. I didn't find this troublesome.
The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Although the front desk associate emphasized that the Fairmont is a family friendly hotel, this is not what we experience. Unless you want to hang out at the pool or the restaurant, there is no place for a family to relax. I specifically asked the front desk associate for recommendations for a place within the hotel to relax as a family, Dad can have a beer, and we can talk without being in our room (which was nice but no room to sit and talk). I was concerned because my daughter is 16 so I specifically asked the front desk associate if the lounge in the hotel lobby was acceptable for under 21 person. She said of course, this is a great place for a family. I asked if there would be any problem and she said no, the Fairmont supports family stays. She must not have understood that I was being careful and didn't want a negative experience.
We couldn't find a table in the lounge area that was clean, but there was a table just inside the doors to the bar. The waitress did not handle her task effectively. She approached the table and said she needs to see my daughter's ID because only someone who is 21 and older can be in the lounge area. I will say hat she was professional but did not take into consideration that

Thank you for staying with us and for the feedback. It sounds as if overall you enjoyed your stay and the hotel. We apologize for the confusion in the Terrace Bar but there are strict guidelines which we must follow in order to stay compliant with state laws. The entire lobby and Terrace Lounge is family friendly minus the small actual bar area where you sat. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience you experienced and hope you will return so that we might make it up to you.
