St. Nicholas Cottage

It is our intention to provide quality accommodation at a reasonable price!
Our Guests have their own space in a quiet area, a private garden with open views over the surrounding countryside and to observe the local wildlife. Our cottage has been fitted out as a comfortable home from home. Due to little light pollution, on clear nights you can see and identify the stars and the planets from the garden.
Seaton is centrally located for exploring the Jurassic South Devon/Dorset coast, the Seaton wetlands, the tramway and the 2000 year old quarry and caves at Beer. From the promenade you see three periods of rock formations. Cretaceous, Triassic and Jurassic, There are plenty of activities for children, Theme and wildlife parks, a donkey Sanctuary, and beautiful gardens to visit. The old Roman city of Exeter is 45 minutes drive and is well worth a visit with it's Roman walls, tunnels, the river Exe and a magnificent Cathedral. The Norman Lockyer observatory from where he discovered, and named, Helium in the sun. We could go on and on, but why not come and see for yourself. Oh! I forgot to mention the beaches and...
Your hosts, Gerry and Tess.

All-round excellent
There's absolutely nothing to fault with this property/our stay. So clean and spacious, beautiful views from lounge together with abundance of birds around host's feeders and plenty of other wildlife all seen from double-vista lounge. Gerry was so friendly, helpful and approachable and Tess immediately sorted our cooker confusion. Had lovely meals in olde worlde Wheelwright Inne down road and of course a beautiful area to boot. We are so pleased we discovered this gem.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Friendly and welcoming host. Really appreciated the thoughtfulness of having tea, milk and biscuits waiting for us. Seperate shower and a big bath, which was fantastic after running a local race. Very quiet postion but only short drive to the sea. Would happily stay here again if in the area.

Fabulous week at Xt. Nicholas
A lovely well equipped property, tastefully decorated and furnished. Cosy and spacious at the same time with French doors leading out to the garden and countryside. Great location only 5 minutes from Seaton and access to the Jurassic Coast and other places of interest. You must try the Seaton Tramway! Can't recommend it enough to friends and would definitely stay again. Views from the bedrooms and garden were spectacular with wonderful wildlife. We saw such different birds than we do at home! Sat outside many times late into the evening with our dinner and drinks looking at the Devon countryside and then watching the stars - thoroughly relaxing! Gerry was an excellent host - very helpful and respectful of our privacy.

Tranquil break in beautiful surroundings
The property was spotlessly clean, and very light, with lovely views over the surrounding countryside (even a glimpse of the sea from one window) and into the garden. It was very comfortable and well equipped and within easy reach of many magnificent coastal/clifftop walks. We particularly enjoyed watching and photographing a wide variety of wildlife, including a nuthatch and woodpeckers that were regular visitors to the bird feeders in the garden. Thank you Gerry for being such a good host.

specious, clean modern accommodation
Our second stay here and it remains a beautifully kept, warm, clean and well equipped little house. The weather was not so good but we enjoyed sitting in the lounge looking out at the amazing countryside views out of the 2 large picture windows. It is a great spot for a quiet country retreat. Towns such as Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth are a short drive away. A very welcoming and helpful host too.
