A large old hotel, set in beautiful grounds with view of the sea. Looks a place set up for weddings but had only a dozen or so guests. Reception and bar staff, super friendly and helpful. Room was a little dated but most importantly in relation to cost was super. Really clean, all amenities and a great shower. Breakfast was again excellent, helpful and attentive staff. Thoroughly recommend this place. For the price it's the best stay we have had in a long while

Sticky problems
Clean and atmosphere pleasing but bathroom door needs to be shaved down a bit so as it will close properly. Noticed same issue in the general toilet area.

Quite honestly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at, which is surprising considering the good reviews. The hotel is dirty, carpets are not fitted properly and are torn, corners unfinished, rooms falling apart, unhelpful staff and strange smells throughout the property. I was utterly shocked. The only good thing that I can say is that the surrounding area is beautiful and the hotel is right on the beach which is absolutely stunning.

Nice and tucked away
I stayed here due to work for 2 nights. staff were very nice and helpful. location is great and is incredibly peaceful. The fry up is great. room was very spacious, bathroom was huge. The location is half an hour from Inverness.

This hotel is gorgeous, extremely comfortable and has incredible views. There's nothing like sleeping in a castle, and the Highland Cows on the property were a lovely surprise as well! The property is beautiful, the bed was super comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Cannot say enough great things about this property!

Grand building and location.
We chose this place mainly for the fact we stayed at the Muthu Fort William and had a great experience. There was no Essa here, but the staff was friendly and helpful. The location of this place is amazing and I want to learn more about the history of the building. The room was comfortable and clean. The tub/shower combo needed an explanation on how to run it. But we figured it out. Breakfast was good and the room was grand. We stayed just one night here. The town of Nairn is old and I’d love to explore it more in the future. I would stay here again.

We stayed last year in the hotel and it was great. 5 stars. This year we were in their cottages out of the hotel. Bed was hard, mold all over wood windows with dampness on windows, bathroom shower door had mold on lip and overall furniture looked like it came from a garage sale. Breakfast was kind of ok. I never did get my croissant. I let desk know our frustration over the state of the room and got the response, “I’ll tell the housekeeper.” I won’t stay there again.

Bad internet, horrible temperature control in the shower, tv stopped working, no air circulation whatsoever, and one of the mattresses had springs coming out of it. Not even mentioning how the room seemed to be a maids corner, the view consisted of trash cans and chemicals on window of adjacent rooms. Lastly, there was a hole in the floor poorly covered by carpet. Horrible stay, not worth the money, thanks for nothing.

We really enjoyed our stay at Newton house hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a needing a bit of updating but we liked the reception and lobby decor. The cleaning of our room was bit sporadic. Bins were never emptied and coffee and tea facilities rarely replenished. The food was excellent, particularly at dinner. Large portions, probably too big for us, but it was delicious, especially the desserts.

We left after being shown 3 rooms , first room not clean toilet dirty my wife needed a walk in shower because of her disability but got a shower over a bath , second room mattresses was very badly stained , third room which was quite nice and big which we were told had a new mattress but when we checked was also stained , got our money back and left

Lovely site and generally well maintained. The bathroom let it down for me - a huge crack in the wash basin was just glued over, rather than replaced.
