Avoid!!!! Or send for Alex Polizzi!

Posted 23-Jul-2017
Pros: Not much, staff were pleasant enough if a little disinterested
Cons: Seriously, pretty much everything, tired shabby hotel
Location: Scarborough is great, just don't stay at the Clifton on you visit, there are much, much better hotels for much less money
Peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, leaking shower, missing tile, dirty pointing around sink, stained ceiling in bedroom, stained duvet cover (that was replaced when we mentioned it) peeling paintwork and tired furnishings/paintwork, would not have stayed had it been for more than one night, my wife refused to use the shower it was so poor (chipped and dirty bath) and the first hotel I have EVER stayed in where they did not ask me if I enjoyed my stay on check out, they probably knew, although I did leave the visit comments card filled in, plus vastly overpriced for standard. 2 tea bags in room! Very surprised at Brittania, they used to have standards,

Big hotel overlooking the north bay

Posted 04-Jul-2017
Pros: friendly helpful staff. Although we hadn't booked car parking and the car park was full we were able to buy a permit to park on the street outside whi
Location: on the north bay so close to peasome park, the outdoor theatre etc. Not too far to walk to the south bay if you cut through the back roads
Good hotel, helpful staff, no problems at all, huge dining room so no queues for breakfast

Nearest to the Open Air Theatre.

Posted 01-Jul-2017
Pros: The staff were incredibly friendly. The heating was extremely efficient in fact it was too hot overnight!
Cons: New windows are needed as the old sashes are stuck and very draughty.
Location: It was walking distance from the Open Air Theatre and what looked like a delightful park. Sadly the weather was awful with sea fog and rain .
We chose this hotel as we had no experience of Scarborough and we were going to see Cliff Richard .We were surprised at the lift ,we had not seen one like this since the 1950's. It was comfortable and the staff were superb but it needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to date.

The lift was broken so was the TV and the extractor fan in the shower room. The windows were noisy carpets dirty. Insufficient milk/tea. No drawers to place clothes.

Stop over

Pleasant stop over . Improved since our last stay. Just spoiled by the very cold room . Central heating switched off. Was told it was broken but the hall was warm .
