The hotel has a great position

Posted 13-Sep-2017
Pros: The location
Cons: WIFI was poor, and there were no telephones in the room.
Location: lenty to do or visit in Scarborough and surrounds.
The hotel has a great position on top of the south cliff with wonderful views. However it does suffer from a lack of TLC. Our main gripe was the complete lack of storage/shelves in the bathroom. The breakfast was varied and very good. The staff were helpful and always cheerful. Providing potential visitors are not anticipating 3* treatment the hotel pluses eg location are worth considering.

Nice quiet hotel

Posted 07-Sep-2017
Cons: Start doing evening meals
Location: Location was mentioned before
Lovely view from our room across the bay . Hotel sits high up on cliff so access to promanade you have to walk along road and take cliff lift down to sea level . Lovely walk along promanade , it was disappointing that the hotel didn't do evening meals, but there are lots of nice places to go. Staff friendly and helpful, swimming pool lovely especially after being out and about all day ,

Two day break

Posted 06-Sep-2017
Pros: Friendly staff, peaceful relaxed atmosphere. V Good breakfast. Small, but nice swimming pool & sauna. bathroom small, shower had plenty of hot water.
Cons: Shelf to put things on in the bathroom would be useful. Toilet door to be fixed.
Location: Nice Italian gardens close by which had well thought out paths down to the sea and not too far from the cliff lift to come back up.
Easy to find, Lovely welcome, had a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. Managed to park free on street outside the main door. Would have been provided with a parking permit if needed. Enjoyed the excellent sea views in a quiet locality. Was disappointed at the size of the room 104, it had very small double bed up against the wall, more suited for single occupancy.

Great view

Paid a very small extra to get a sea view and it was definitely worth it. We had a great view across the sea towards the light house and the fair.

Loved our view of the sea..the quiet of the area..

Posted 24-Aug-2017
Pros: Good staff, clean linen, good breakfasts, good place for gentle walks on the top of the cliff..but too far away from the beach if you have a sore knee.
Cons: The toaster in the dining room.Hoovering of the rooms as we found crumbs and other tit bits still on the floor everyday.
Location: Coach trips to Whitby,Filey from town, excellent beach, shows at Spa theatre am and pm,boat rides to nearby interests, bus to a fun park, great town.
The hotel was a bit far from the harbour but is perfect for those who enjoy walking...and exercise. We used the tramway quite a bit to go down to the beach and back up to the town.Loved the town and the people there were lovely.I woke most mornings about 6.30am and ,with my cuppa, enjoyed the view of the sea,the walkers and runners going by..many with their dogs.Breakfast was perfect except for the toaster that took ages most mornings.Might be going back for the jazz festival in September this year but only if we can get the same room.It was perfect for us.
