We only stayed one night but this was a fantastic stopover. The staff were pleasant, the adjoining restaurant was superb and the room was clean and comfortable.

Will not come back
Despite a nice staff, we are very disappointed. We have been given a room which was stuck in between an office, the billiard room, the breakfast room and the washroom. It was very noisy and we could hear almost everything. There is no curtain in the shower making impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom… and almost no WiFi connection available. To be mentioned that the bed might be as old as the house and is not flat. Last but not least when I prepared a tea in the morning, I found an insect in the boiler…

Nice stay in chateau. Styling similar to a hotel inside so lose the sense of staying in the chateau.

When we arrived, our room smelled of sewage. We asked the front desk to come and solve the problem. The drains were not clean and the gas in the room was terrible.

We arrived past 9pm after driving in from Paris and the two reception ladies greeted us with a big smile. We booked two rooms in the castle building for 2 nights and were given rooms on the 1st floor which didn't have a nice view as it was half-blocked by a terrace of some sort filled with dead leaves. The room itself was nice, spacious and had an extra bed. The detailings in the room were also very nice. Bathroom was decent, but there was no space for makeup pouch after placing toiletries. Parking was easy and it was nice walking around the grounds. Definitely a nice experience staying here.

Pleasant country hotel
A good stay with very friendly staff. Room was simple and adequate. Breakfast very good with a wide choice of quality foods. The restaurant was nicely done but we found the food only ok and wine expensive.

It was all very pretty but our room and stay were impacted by the wet weather. The room was lovely but accessed down steps - and in the rain this became a watery puddle. Stepping into the room from the puddle with wet shoes and no rug to absorb water meant we had a puddle on the floor by the door… which we were constantly mopping. There were no opening windows - so in the rain we couldn’t open the doors for obvious reasons. We had a lovely little patio but we’re met with an old whisky glass full of cigarette ends. Seems petty to mention but for the region - and it being 4* we expected better.

Superb building and grounds. Sadly the whole stay was let down by the restaurant experience. Really expensive with a limited choice and failed to deliver on quality.

Mixed bag- restaurant is the redeeming feature
Hotel was nice, although when we arrived the car park was full of work vans which made parking a bit of a challenge. Room 401 in the out-house was tired- paint on the ceiling of the bathroom was peeling off in large chunks. Breakfast uninspiring and very limited. Bar service not great. But… the restaurant was very good - food, wine and service.

Lovely tranquil location. We ate dinner in the restaurant - enjoyable experience with some unusual options. Wine very expensive. Grounds not at their best.

OK, but a bit disappointing. We booked a superior room, but it was on the small side and in the attic. Only a shower (no bath) and that leaked all over the bathroom floor. Pool area was rather rundown (not as impressive as the photos)

I stayed here with my two children (16 & 12) as part of a 10 day European road trip. This was our first stop. Beautiful surroundings & building plus a great outdoor pool were the highlights. The view from our balcony overlooking the gardens & pool was superb at sunrise. There was a need to travel 2-3 km to reach anywhere that provided groceries, a gym, fast food etc. but once the area became familiar to us, it was not an issue. Fond memories Chateau de Saulon will remain.

Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing
Fantastic hotel, very good service. My family had a junior suite and felt at home in this beautiful French chateau. The gardens and local scenic views really made this hotel even more peaceful and relaxing.
