My partner and I have been choosing to stay here when coming to Saskatoon on medical trips for a few years now. The rooms are clean and comfy, we enjoy the free breakfast as well as the option of the Ricki’s attached to the hotel. Staff is always friendly and helpful and it’s a great budget friendly stay for 1-2 nights. This time however we noticed there was increased police presence in the area as well as some houseless people that we never usually see around the hotel. There appears to be increased security within the lobby by enforcing use of hotel room keys to get into the main doors. Not to assume that all houseless individuals are violent or drug users, but some of the ones around the hotel definitely did appear to be intoxicated, a couple were fighting in the parking lot and when we returned to the hotel in the evening after supper we had to walk by a group of people clearly drinking and smoking weed in the parking lot (it could be seen/smelled) which is unfortunate. This is not really the hotels fault and more a social/political issue, but it is unlikely we will book here again if we have our children with us. Additionally, the parking situation is a bit sketchy because of the increase in individuals in the parking lot area which did make us feel unsafe for our vehicle. Again this is understandably out of the hotels control however it felt worth mentioning. We are sad because this hotel is conveniently located for most of our needs when we’re in the city.
