Had a wonderful stay at the La vecchia Fonte. Roberto on front desk was very helpful Hotel is in a great location The only down side is the breakfast. It was very light with extremely poor choices. There was no fresh fruit but there was plenty of flies around.

We loved our stay here. Beautiful property, elegant, tasteful, nice staff. Generous, lovely rooms, crisp gorgeous sheets and the most comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom nicely done with soft towels. Lots of hot water, fairly roomy shower. French doors open to the garden and the nice little town. Church bells ringing. Very generous buffet breakfast with courteous, smiling staff. Great late lunch in the town. Took the La Maddalena Archipelago all day boat trip, a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Parking was easy, as well.

Parking was not the best. I had to run out and feed the meter. The market was noisy as were the neighbours. Hotel staff were excellent, especially Marco. Breakfast was basic and the room it was served in was not the best, but the breakfast staff were very nice. The shared balcony was not great for privacy reasons. The advertised water view was quite an exaggeration.

The hotel was clean and staff very accommodating. One premium room the AC was only a fan, so room was too hot. The breakfast was nice. The marina area lively with lots of restaurant choices.

Nice property- Terrible AC
Hotel is central location to the port and town. Nice breakfast and spacious modern rooms and baths. AC was a problem. In the room it would take several hours to get comfortable (22-23) however AC was on a timer and would turn off after 90 minutes, so if you left the room or were sleeping would wake up in hot sweat. Breakfast room AC did not work either.

If you had informed us during the stay we would have had it checked immediately. However, there is no timer. The AC can stay on 24/24 h and only switches off when the windows are opened. The Location of the property is perfect for catching the Ferry early the next morning to go to the Maddalena islands . The hotel location is ideal for shopping and for the nightlife. Every night an outdoor market sets up in front of the hotel from 8 pm until 1 am . Its nice as you can walk around in front of your own hotel and its nice and lively at night. There is a huge parking lot to park your car in front of the hotel . The white lines parking is free and the blue lines you pay for parking . At night from 8 pm to 8 am the blue lines parking is free for overnight. Hotel staff is very helpful and polite and lent me an adapter for my blowdryer . Staff was helpful in suggestions for dinner etc. and were super friendly and very nice. Definitely recommend staying here . Location is perfect .

We stayed here for 2 nights while on our honeymoon. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located right in the port with lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping within walking distance. Good value for money for the area.

Palau is lovely
Well located hotel in Palau. Staff are extremely helpful with excursions and restaurant recommendations. Parking garage is very convenient as well.

Room was nothing special, and Tv was a little small. Needs better beds instead of two twins pushed together. Overall, it gets the job done if you are staying in town to go see Maddalena, it is right next to the harbor about 2 minute walk.

The hotel is located right in front of the marina, surrounded by restaurants and shops. Everything is walking distance. The hotel staff is so kind and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The boat excursions are right in front, and you can literally walk right up and book one. The ferry to La Maddalena is also right in front. I highly recommend this hotel.

Poor air conditioning. Old and worn linen. No amenities for 180 Euro per night, not even complimentary water or Kleenex. Location is good and breakfast underwhelming. Overpriced. Next time we will stay all nights at the Excelsior in la maddalena.

We are sorry you did not appreciate our Classic room especially because in the Expedia's description all the room features are well listed: courtesy set with shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, conditioner, vanity kit; hairdryer; AC; TV led; safe; minibar; telephone. Otherwise, if you had chosen a Junior Suite or a Suite you could have found all the amenities you dreamed: silky linen, a kettle with tea collection, kleenex, welcome amenities (with cakes and white wine) and much more. Great location and friendly staff. Parking off site was close and inexpensive. Breakfast options not geared towards vegetarians or vegans. Need more options. Like maybe margarine or peanut butter and maybe some potatoes. Rooms were lacking tissues, shower water temperature was not consistent. Matress was extremely hard. No makeup mirror.

Not really a 4 star hotel
Twin bed room is reserved, however, when we arrived at 10pm, there is a double bed. And there is no house keeping so we have to make the bed ourselves. The hotel is old fashion design but the shower corner is newly built. However they built a very shallow basin with curtains not even make glass sliding doors so water is hardly control to flood everywhere. Besides, as a four star hotel, there is no kettle available in the room is quite unbelievable.

Central location but not 4* standard
Misleading photos suggesting breakfast is at outdoor roof. Reality was in a room with little light and weak air conditioning, gets warm when a few tables arrive to fill the room. Breakfast selection is limited but staff was helpful and tried get hold of the few 'Engligh Breakfast' tea bags left. The room was spacious, floor needs cleaning. Bed cover and sofer cover were dirty / stained, not of 4* standard. Beddings and towels were clean and fresh looking up to expectation. Good central location, there is a nightly market outside the hotel where the public carpark is. Public parking ends at 8pm when market vendors start arriving. Trading activities go on till around midnight. It could be noisy if you have a room facing the carpark/marina. There is no kettle in the room. Mini bar (and entire room) offers 1 plastic cup.

Staying in the presidential suite
We stayed in the presidential suite and were welcomed with a bottle of prosecco and some local cookies. The room was great and the jacuzzi was a very nice touch, even if not as big as from the pictures. Breakfast was an average self service, with both sweet and savoury dishes and a coffee machine. Perhaps one would expect more from a 4* hotel. It is conveniently located by the town harbour and centre, both reachable within 5min walk. The staff was always smiling and super efficient. Definitely a recommendable place to stay.

Always a great place to stay as it’s close to area where there are shops, market, restaurants, etc. Breakfast was very nice. Stella is lovely and very helpful as was all staff. Only one issue was due to noise from restaurant/bar close by as there was a soccer game and it was very noisy one night.

This property was in the perfect location for everything we wanted to do. This boutique hotel was clean and had great service!! Special shout out to Stella at the front desk who went above and beyond in helping us out with bus schedules, suggestions on local things to do and always ensuring we were taken care of. Great stay at a wonderful town. Location is close to shopping, ferry to La Madd, Catholic Church. Great breakfast and wonderful bar on site. Staff was excellent.

Lovely hotel in a nice little village.
The staff couldn’t be any more helpful, with anything from looking up local bus timetables to recommending things to see and do. Lovely hotel with nice rooms.
