Although I had to have the room sprayed for mosquitos and leave the room while the poison took effect, I still was bitten by mosquitos. I hate mosquitos so I am glad I only stayed one night.

Nice place to stay in Santa Marta
The staff was very helpful and polite, it was so nice to be welcomed by them after a long day of travel. They were able to answer all of my questions and helped me set up a cab for an early flight. The building itself is beautiful and the rooftop deck is a nice reprieve from the noisy city streets below. However, the room was not as clean as it might have been, there was a dead cockroach in one corner, and the linens had spots on them. I also found the mattress to be somewhat uncomfortable. Overall it was a pleasant stay but I would have liked the room to be cleaner and more well-kept.

Front desk staff is amazing. Always available and pleased to help. The swimming pool on the rooftop although very small is really good and has nice views over the city and the cathedral. The hotel is really well located right beside the main shopping and pedestrian street. The room are well appointed and the A/C works very well. The room It has a mini bar. The only thing to improve is perhaps to provide more light in the bathroom as it feels extremely dark (there is only one spotlight in the ceiling). Overall is a great Hotel and with extremely attentive and pleasant staff in one of the best locations in the city.

There was a great variaty of different breakfast options! They offer a direct transport to Cartagena. One member of the staff speaks german. Everyone was very friendly and eager to help. We enjoyed our stay there.

Loved the Barcelona Suite
We stayed in the Barcelona suite for 3 nights as a base for visiting Minca and Tayrona. The room is massive and really nicely decorated, with 2 balconies off the bedroom and 1 off the sitting area. The hotel is only a block away from the main strip of restaurants, bars etc, which meant we could walk to these without feeling unsafe. The hotel itself has a security gate and felt very safe. It has a cute rooftop area with very small pool - we didn’t really use this much as we tended to be out all day. The room is well equipped including really good air con which was welcomed as this was our first stop on the Carribean coast! The only drawbacks were the very loud pigeons on the balcony early morning (take ear plugs) and the curtains were not black out (take eye mask!) The breakfast was made to order rather than buffet and had a good variety, but was sometimes a little slow - something to bear in mind if you’re heading out on a day trip and are pressed for time. The staff however were really friendly, and were helpful in organising our onward travel to Cartagena.

Nice place, nice people. room was uncomfortable.
It is in a convenient neighborhood and the staff was wonderful and the breakfast was wonderful. There was construction noise everyday, all day. I understand that can be temporary. If I have a complain it is that there is no place to sit down in your room except the bed. I asked for a chair but I was denied. How can someone stay in a room with no chair?

The reception desk told us that we were being upgraded. We were give the room Havana. May be the decoration is made on purpose to appear well worn out on purpose, but it does not look so. We compared the photos with what was shown on website but it seems that they were taken by professional photographer and can be little misleading. The worst bit was the breakfast. The potions are quite small with very limited choice. It is just eggs in various forms. Each extra glass of juice was paid. We were hungry in an hour after the breakfast. Very disappointing as we paid a premium for this so called boutique hotel. Anyways, the good point of the hotel is great location with many places to eat and hang out on walking distance. The staff gave us good indications.

I loved the place and the lovely rooms I think there is a problem with the sewage system in the whole area because smelled very bad The staff were great at any time They hace a lot of propaganda on their restaurant and happy hour but it was not working at all

The property is locate right in the city center 2 blocks from parque de los novios (Lovers Park) and one block from the cathedral and all the shopping from Downtown Santa Marta. Excellent choices for a complimentary breakfast. You feel like u went back in time in this hotel but still keeping modern restrooms.

The hotel is in very bad shape. The pictures on Expedia are very old, and don't reflect the real condition of the property. In my room, there were burnt light bulbs, and it took almost two days for them to change them. The hotel needs a fresh coat of painting, and there is a clear lack of maintenance and upkeep. It is full of cheap Ikea decor. The terrace looks terrible. The staff was nice and kind but there is little they can do in hotel where management is not investing in serious maintenance.

Great staff and location
Perfect location in the historic centre of Santa Marta with good restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Our room was beautiful and airy with lots of space and the hotel also has a roof terrace with great views of town. Staff were lovely and very helpful so we'd fully recommend this hotel for a visit to this part of Colombia.

Nice hotel in central location
The hotel is set on the corner of a junction near the cathedral and lots of restaurants and bars. Staff are friendly and breakfast was lovely. I had a room on the third floor and couldn’t connect to WiFi so hadn’t to keep going downstairs to use it which was frustrating. The rooms need a bit of an update but overall ok, quite a few bugs for in the room so managed to get bitten. Overall it was good value for money.

Lovely restored old building conveniently located in historic city center. Extremely helpful friendly staff, large suites (our group stayed in Paris and Africa), clean and tasteful. The upstairs roof terrace was so nice for watching the sunset while bathing in the small but relaxing warm water pool with delicious happy hour drinks. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty in the outdoor patio downstairs. The main cons were that there was lots of street noise- yelling arguments and traffic that made for less than restful nights. Also the beds were a bit hard and the roof terrace furniture past its prime. Nonetheless we very much enjoyed our stay.

Underwhelming.
It is described as a Boutique hotel but to me it seemed more like an upmarket backpacking hostel. It is pleasant enough but seems slightly overpriced. Nice shower, but the room is a little rough around the edges. The restaurant is expensive and doesn't really serve anything other than seafood and portions seemed small. The breakfast was nice and the hotel had a good location.

Great Suite, Great Roof, Great Location
We walked in after doing a 4 day trek to the lost city in Tayrona park and were looking (and smelling) quite disgusting. We were greeted and shown to our suite by a nice English speaking staff member. We walked into the Barcelona suite and almost cried for joy. 2 huge rooms, cool decor, 3 balconies,12-foot ceilings. And the shower! After 3 nights of sleeping in hammocks and bathing in rivers, the shower with 3 different water spouting locations and hot water was enough to make me sob. Cool rooftop pool and lounge area. Nice bartender who makes a mean cocktail downstairs. Good breakfast menu and yummy fruit bread, coffee, and juice are included with your reservation. We were supposed to get 10% off all food and drink, but we forget to have them apply the discount and didn't get to take advantage of it. The hotel staff was friendly, and there was always someone who spoke English working. The bartender even ran out and purchased an item for my boyfriend which was very nice. You can't beat this location for the city center. When we want the beach, we stay in Rodadero. For the life and flavor of Santa Marta, stay in the city center and take transport to the beach.

Not TERRIBLE.
My experience with this hotel was "Meh". Our room was tiny and the floors were FILTHY, but the bathrooms were quite nice, having been newly renovated. However, the toilet would not flush on its own, unless you let it sit for 10-15 minutes. We ended up filling the garbage bucket with water and using that to flush the toilet, instead. I did see several other rooms which were MUCH larger and nicer, so I don't know why we got such a lacking one. The hotel itself was nice, with the two selling points being a roof-deck with a "pool" and a complementary breakfast. The pool is tiny, maybe containing the dimensions of 8 feet by 15 feet (without exaggeration) and the breakfast, while tasty, was served by one very overwhelmed waitress. We had to ask for juice, water, or coffee half several times, before giving up. The staff was also very amenable, giving us directions and helping us book taxis as needed. If you do visit this hotel, expect to be neither impressed nor disappointed.

The deluxe rooms are amazing. Room New York is very spacious - loft style with air conditioning and fans and very chic. The TV don't work but it was okay considering we were traveling to watch tv. We extended our stay one additional night and because of the late notice, we got switched to the Barcelona Suite. Large layout with a seperate living room and bedroom. Because this room is on a corner, the suite has three balconies. The downside of the Barcelona suite is that the pigeons like to sit on the balconies and make noises all night plus the street traffic seemed to echo more. This room is very noisy. Personally the New York Delux was the best room. The food and drinks are delicious at the hotel. The chef experimented new dishes and drinks with us.. AMAZING FLAVORS . The staff is very helpful and knowelgable .

All started when I got a room that had no tv and no hot water, tried to contact the reception but didn't get any helpful response just "sorry sir there is nothing we can do" come on... after that I had bad bugs that seriously got my skin to itch, what a dirty place, the guy and the girl in the reception laughed at me when I asked for discount due to that, what a shame... stay away!!

nice hotel in a safe area
we stayed in santa marta for 2 nights. this hotel is very nice with a rooftop pool, breakfast was excellent ( a la carte), staff was attentive and helpful. no major issues with the location. close to the catedral and shopping areas, including restaurants.
