"Last morning in Barcelona but we’d definitely recommend a sojourn here. Imagine the city has changed quite dramatically since I was last here 24 years ago but a lovely place to visit out of season. Weather a very comfortable 15-20 degrees, a nice warm spring so not too hot or cold to get out and about and explore. We found the most beautiful independent boutique hotel called the Wittmore. Tucked away in an alley in the gothic quarter right by all the action but at the same time an oasis of calm. Couldn’t ask for more from an affordable 5* star hotel and their philosophy covers quite an old school etiquette of no children and no photography so less of the Instagram influencer nonsense and more old school art of relaxation and conversation! Amazing what taking away the need to post on social media does to the atmosphere of a place. Definitely get the breakfast and make sure you visit Eduardo the mixologist! Very rare to find a hotel where every little detail has been thought through and the upmost care put into everything, from music to aroma! There’s even a fabulous roaring fire and calming green wall in the courtyard. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and the room couldn’t have been any more comfortable even if they tried! The blackout windows and absolute silence on an evening makes for a great sleep! The rooftop bar and pool has cracking views and must be a delight when the city gets just too hot. "We wanted a luxurious hotel with a pool for the children and sauna/ wellbeing facilities to wind down at the end of a long day walking. Pool We believed it was a heated pool from advertising and as staff told us it was heated to 24C. On arrival the pool (an outdoor pool in mid Feb) was absolutely freezing! It definitely did not seem to be heated so we could not use it out of fear of getting sick. Other guests (adults) also told us that the pool had been this cold throughout their stay so they too were unable to use it. The children were very upset. We've visited hot destinations which have had much hotter pools. Sauna We were shocked to learn the use of sauna was not included in room rate - extra charge of 80 euro pp/hour. Extortionate considering how much we already paid for room. Never been asked to pay extra to use these facilities elsewhere. I was not even asking for any treatments. This is completely unacceptable and misadvertising. Charges for the sauna etc are not mentioned when you look at the hotel facilities. Breakfast Fair choice of cold items, but the only veg/vegan options (mushrooms and new potatoes) were kept in the same warming vessel as the bacon. People used the same serving spoons for the veg and non veg options. Found Bacon in potatoes! Backwards and ignorant of veg/ vegan guests' comfort and needs. Not 5* Bar Only had cheap Nesquik hot choc for kids, Mint tea was actually green tea labelled mint tea - they are not the same! "First step, first impression was top notch! Every single employee was above and beyond wonderful. They were there for us and helped us with anything and everything. Due to the Corona Virus our MSC Cruise was canceled, we didnt have WIFI at the port so the first thing we both thought it would be best to go back to the hotel. We told them we would be back, not realizing it would be the same day.They welcomed us again and was so very helpful. We' stayed for another 2 nights before we got out of the country due to the country closing everything down. We will be back again!…""First step, first impression was top notch!
