A beautiful castle-turned parador in Hondarribia
We were lucky enough to be able find a room in this beautiful parador in Hondarribia for our last night in País Vasco. Even more luckily, we were able to upgrade our room to a fabulous suite with a cute little terrace facing the river. The room was clean and large, and well-equipped. The staff was both friendly and helpful. The hotel building is well maintained and preserves its semblance as a castle very well. It has a beautiful court yard, and there we enjoyed the wine we bought from the hotel cafeteria and enjoy. Located right in the middle of the historic district and is in a walking distance to a fishing town where good tapas bars and restaurants are located.

Basque delight
Fabulous parador with history, charm, beautiful setting. Only problem—no air conditioning.

Beautiful place
While the place is amazing, both the old building and the modern room, the service is less than ideal, especially during the weekend. Breakfast has a lot to improve to match the environment and the cost of staying in this hotel.
