Great hotel, good location

Posted 09-Feb-2016
Pros: Friendly & helpful staff Location Comfortable rooms Reasonable prices for rooms, hotel restaurant
Cons: Rooms need new carpets
Location: Easy and safe 30-min walk to central SJ. Next to Sabana park. Several restaurants nearby, Central Pub (has local draft beer) across the street
We stayed at the TRYP Sabana hotel for 10 nights and I it was a positive experience, I can recommend this hotel without hesitation. The location is perfect - next to Sabana park and only 30 minutes walk to city center, several restaurants and convenience stores are very close, the neighborhood is safe. We had no problem with the street noise - a very busy Avenida Central is one block away but the sound of traffic was just a soft, distant hum. The room was great, bed very comfortable, wi-fi signal strong and working at all times, strong shower...carpet, however, will need to be replaced soon. The best part of our stay was the hotel staff - everybody was so friendly and helpful...front desk, waiters, smiling cleaning lady - just fantastic!

Terrible service by Management

Posted 01-Feb-2016
Pros: Size of the Family room was nice.
Cons: Management
Location: Terrible Location. Feels like you will be robbed.
The Hotel is in a bad area. Not very inviting. The Hotel is a fine middle of the road Hotel with a nice coffee shop and restaurant for breakfast. We had a family room which is very cool with 2 Queen Beds and a Bunk bed for the kids. The view was into an alley though so we kept the curtains closed. The carpets do need a good deep clean or replacement. Also we where awoken by concrete drilling at 7:30. They are renovating at the Hotel. My main problem was with Management. I booked the Hotel for the start of our trip and the end so that we are close to the Airport. I booked the stays and by acceded booked another 3rd stay that I did not need. I immedeatily called Expedia and they called the Hotel to get me a refund. They did not want to refund. I then personally contacted the Hotel to ask for a partial refund or a credit to a future stay. The answer was NO, NO, NO. Not a great management style! Give this Hotel a pass, I am sure there are better in San Jose.

Good Location, But......

Posted 24-Jan-2016
Pros: Location; staff; room comfort; WiFi.
Cons: Temperature consistency of shower water; restaurant food.
Location: Not much to do during the week; weekends there is a crazy dance club in the same building.
This hotel is situated in the commercial district of San Jose, near their big park (in the west part of the city). It is a typical business hotel, and as such the WiFi was excellent and the room spartan, but of acceptable comfort. However, the shower was difficult to deal with, as the water fluctuated constantly from scalding hot to freezing. And the restaurant was quite possibly the worst that I have ever eaten at: food was lukewarm at best, appeared to be of questionable origin, and ended up causing a nasty GI issue (also known as food poisoning) hours later. Not a fun way to spend your bathroom time....... If you do decide to stay at this hotel, please, for the love of God, do not eat at the restaurant!!!!

Average Hotel, Good Location

Posted 17-Dec-2015
Average hotel in a good location. For the money that I paid it wasn't worth it. Long waits at the reception due to having only one member of staff. Sol who was the receptionist was friendly and very informative however another member of staff is needed to support her and speed up the process. My room was not cleaned, and during my stay I had to ring and request for it to be cleaned. Average breakfast with little choice. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone else at the price we paid, there are better hotels in San Jose. Felt more like a glorified B&B than a hotel. NOT WORTH THE PRICE AT ALL!

Dear guest, we are very sorry you found the relation price - quality out of range, this is not what most of our guests feel however we highly respect your opinion. We have two people in staff in the front desk at all times, however Murphy's law works often and sometimes we have a crowed when one of them is having a meal.

Beautiful Modern Hotel

Posted 29-Nov-2015
Pros: The restaurant food was great. The view was incredible. The room was huge and very modern.
Cons: Costa Rica never sleeps. The road noise settles down around 2am and starts again at 4am. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep.
Location: You can walk downtown. Be sure to visit the cultural center, it is amazing. The theatre is amazing too.
On the 8th floor with huge windows overlooking the city. Room was spacious, clean and with comfortable bedding.

Estimado huesped, es una pena que sintiera la calidad precio/calidad fuera de lugar, no es el sentimiento de la mayoria de los viajeros pero respetamos su opinion.

The hotel is in very busy street and it's not sound proof so you hear all of the buses, cars, taxis blowing their horn very early in the morning. The entrance does have a ramp but there are no signs to point you to it, so you have to carry your luggage up a flight of about 20 stairs; I arrived later than 10pm so they told me the bellboy only works until 10pm. Also, I had a support column right almost in front of my bed. The cable TV was all in Spanish, and as much as I'm also Spanish I live in the US and would appreciate at least the news channel to be in English. The shower gave me intermittent cold and hot water when showering; sometimes it'd get very hot and then very cold, every 2-3 minutes of my shower. The people were very nice as are all ticos so that part was very good. I will definitely not stay there again and will not recommend to anybody else. Also, the food was very so-so and there's nothing else around that that you don't have to take a cab for it. From 1-10 rating, I give it a 1 overall. I'm sorry Wyndham but you screwed this one up.
