Bad attention by the waiters in the restaurant

Cons: the waitress
The staff is at the entrance has an agreement with the taxi drivers to charge more the guest when they need service.

Feel Spoiled and NEVER Want to Leave!!

Pros: EVERYTHING!!
Location: Taxi drivers which work for the hotel available at all times; trip adviser and terrific deals and places to go such as Poas Volcano, Manuel Antonio!!
We absolutely loved the San Jose Barcelo Palacio: EVERYONE in the main office, on the sixth floor, the taxi drivers, the waiters in the little restaurant by the pool, the sweet women who cleaned our room were wonderful, suggesting restaurants, things to do with a 4 year old in tow, and made us feel valued and important. The hotel itself has a fantastic never want to leave it pool for children/pool for adults, killer drinks and what better to go with the drinks ceviche and papas fritas, comfy beds, mini fridge, amazing best ever in our lives free breakfast buffet..although it was a stressful trip getting there, being in the Barcelo Palacio made it worthwhile. GREAT PLACE to stay and thank you!!

Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo

Hotel un po' distante dal centro. Vi abbiamo soggiornato per uno scalo aereoportuale fruendo di un comodo servizio di trasporto in navetta. Personale estremamente cortese e attento ad ogni esigenza compresa una colazione a sacco dovendo ripartire alle 4 a.m. Peccato non aver potuto fruire di piscina e spa che chiudono troppo presto.

Good hotel

The hotel grounds are pretty nice. The pool, however could use a renovation. I had to switch rooms due to an electrical burning in the bathroom of my room. Was a great transition. The hotel have restaurants, bar and spa. Free airport shuttle and nice buffet breakfast.

Hotel staff don't speak much english

Hotel was OK not great and the food in all 3 restaurants were over priced and nasty. The bar drinks were horrible and expensive. They want you to eat there and don't provide any information for outside deliveries. Most staff was very unpleasant and rude. Overall experience in Costa Rica was just OK. Will never travel there again nor recommend.

Nothing within walking distance have to taxi

Overall very nice, well known, clean hotel. The free buffet breakfast is amazing! Free airport shuttle. Floor to ceiling Windows with nice views of surrounding areas. Bi lingual friendly hotel staff. They are Excursion trip planners that are available on site to plan back packing trips or hiking tours and other out door activities. Very fun and exciting restaurant and bar and lounge on site for entertainment!!!

Very nice, old style hotel, worth a return look

Pros: Service, value, room size, real king beds, parking, old-style elegance remains
Cons: Telephone system is from the 1970s, no direct dial to another room, room service never answers, altho 24/7 room service itself is actually pretty good
Location: Taxis from the hotel are overpriced by 2x, which you will see when you return in a street cab or Uber. That said, the location is good.
I used to stay here about 12 - 15 times per year, but not in a couple of years. However, I returned last week because of meetings scheduled at the hotel. Briefly, the hotel is excellent, still. It offers very good sized rooms, old style decor (think dark wood paneling), very good breakfast buffet, decent internet, excellent service from the staff (aside from phoning for room service), covered parking, . It also has a decent gardens area,which is not something you find in newer properties. I have stayed both on business and with my family and highly recommend the hotel, if the location is convenient for your trip. The value for the price is terrific, seriously, and you get a "full" hotel experience.
