Pictures tell a thousand lies.

To preface: I very much understand that you get what you pay for, but this hotel was just absolutely ridiculous. Positives: Staff is very nice, most understand basic English, free buffet breakfast changes every day and offers an eclectic taste of Costa Rican cuisine, and the restaurant is average priced for average food. Now, the negatives...we booked this hotel in pet for its location to the markets downtown, which was fantastic (a 5 minute Uber ride!). But, we also booked this hotel because of the photos. We did our research and from what we could gather, the hotel underwent some intense changes and renovations. Great! Not. We get there, check into our standard, two twin bed room, and are greeted to a sinking ceiling, the noises of every other guest who walks past our door, mold on the bathroom ceiling, a shower that doesn't drain or shoot out water from the shower head, and a variety of dead bugs scattered around the cracks and crevices of the room. It wasn't great. Each bed has 1 pillow, a top sheet, and a bleach-stained quilt. One bed is shoved in a corner under the window and the other is in front of the bathroom door -- meaning that if you want to open up the door to go to the bathroom, you have to maneuver your bed so it is sideways. So, while I can't comment on the "superior" rooms or whatever it is they say, I guess all I'm saying is that even at $55/night, I expected more.
