Good location, amazing breakfast
Just go for the breakfast! The food is really tasty and served in generous portions. Where you have breakfast is also very nice. You can either eat in a spacious, open-plan dining room, or take your food outside to a covered area next to the swimming pool. I looked forward to breakfast every morning as a result.
As for the hotel, the architecture is a bit dated and the locks on the doors don't inspire confidence. However, the rooms are clean, comfortable and have everything you need, including a safe (which compensates for the questionable door locks). Nothing to write home about, but not budget-looking either. My room was quiet, which is very important to me.
Finally, the location is pretty good. Restaurants nearby weren't that special and there are no major attractions. However, there is a modern art museum and large, attractive park less than 10 minutes away. Moreover, if you are in town for business, it’s location strikes a good balance between proximity to many local businesses and San José’s historic centre (allowing you to visit both without much hassle, albeit by taxi). Would strongly recommend if you are on a mid-range budget.
