Comfortable apartment near San Gimignano
Over holidays, we wanted to stay at an Agritorismo but couldn't find accommodation. This apartment came up on Expedia at a reasonable price near San Gimignano and we reserved it for a six night stay. The apartment itself was spacious and the kitchen was great for preparing our own meals. It was an older apartment so we had to learn how to use the appliances. The big thing to understand is that heat is not included and the cost is 3 euro/hour. During our stay it was cold and we kept it on the entire time. Elena, the hotel manager, was there at most times during business hours and was also reachable on her cell. She made coffee for us upon our arrival and every morning which we greatly appreciated. She also gave us extra towels. The building was gated for security which we appreciated. Elena was super helpful with useful information such as which parking lots were best in each town and also best way to take the train into Florence which we did on our last day. We had one unfortunate night during our stay on New Years Eve where the guests next to us threw a party and we're exceptionally loud which kept our family awake through the night. They also smoked cigarettes which the door seeped into our unit. We called Elena and she was able to get the guests to quiet down. The next morning, she extremely apologetic and explained that she doesn't typically allow partiers to rent the units out and it was an oversight on her part. She remedied the situation to our satisfaction.
Pros: the location was great and the scenery was beautiful.
Cons: It rained during our stay and there was leaking in the bathroom hallway.
Location: San Gimignano was just 4km away.
