This hotel was in a great location, right on Powell, 1/2 block below Union Square. We felt safe walking the area in the day and at night. Very busy and exciting section of the city.
The room was very nice. Although I would have liked to face the city, rather than other rooms, apparently my upgraded king room did not have that option, which was disappointing. But it was fine, the room was spacious and clean, large bathroom.
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside and we had a hard time even finding the entrance, but it was very nice inside. We didn't try the restaurant, but the café was excellent and we loved being able to dine outdoors.
My only complaint really was that there was not much surface area to put things like our laptop, maps etc, the dresser was taken up by the tv and then there were only two small nightstands. Even the bathroom needed more counter area. There was a desk in the little area when you entered the room, but since it was divided from the rest of the room, we never used it, it didn't feel like part of the room. However having that space and high ceilings made the room feel more open and spacious.
We did really enjoy our stay and would stay there again!
